ROB is the most unorthodox character. He's fun to play with cause he's pretty strong, but everything else about him is weird. Kinda like Ness.

Ness is nowhere near as strange as Rob, at least he has a normal feel to his aerial movement and jumping.

So far my favorite character is Wolf. Hes plays like Gannondorf did back in Melee (great aerial attacks that are easy to time and hit hard). Gannondorf now is a little bit harder to play with since none of his old combos work and hes got even worse recovery than before (lack of the extra jump provided by his down-B).

Its also taken me some getting used to the ability to attack after a midair dodge/use multiple midair doges. It kind of pisses me off when a computer dodges my attack in midair and then can easily dodge my second attempt.

Got it myself. Disappointed that there's no Language option like in melee. I really got a kick listening to the Japanese voices and trying to read the Japanese menu. The Pokemon Trainer's English voice actor is just horrible. Couldn't get used to the Wii remote controls though so I just switched back to the gamecube controller. Saves me the cost of batteries anyway.

Current favorite of the new batch is Metaknight and Wario. The english VA for Metaknight is actually pretty good. My all time favorite is still Pink Luigi though. He annoys the hell out of everyone I'm fighting and his final Smash move is just hilarious.

Yeah. Out of all the originals, graphically, they did the best with Samas. Giving her the ability to assume Zero Suit mode kicked ass. Is it just me or have toned down the damage of her attacks though? I'd swear the strong rocket she fires now is a lot weaker than it used to be.

edit: I second the stripping twice proposal. They need to make a patch/expansion to tack on extra characters, new moves and include a language option. I miss Roy and Pichu.

It was never really all that strong, but it does seem a bit slower in terms of movement and the actual launch of the rocket. For the most part I miss the ability to actually use decent combos with characters, which is next to impossible thanks to the new physics. Its still fun, but its kind of slow only going one attack at a time with most characters.]

I dont exactly miss Pichu...he was damn terrible. I miss Roy a little bit, but I think as far as a "power" character goes from Fire Emblem, Ike suits the role much better and Roy was pretty much a copy of Marth with everything about him worse.

Who I do miss though is Mewtwo, hes the most badass Pokemon ever and they should have fixed him up (since he sucked in Melee) and put him in Brawl.

Yeah, there were a lot of subtle changes to the game. I was surprised how they dumbed down Marth's Sword dance. Some combos are still easy enough to initiate though so long as your using the Gamecube controller.

Well I wasnt referring to moves like that so much as stringing totally different attacks together so that your opponent cannot avoid the subsequent attacks after they are hit by the first.

For example I used to be able to tie a throw and an aerial/smash attack with many characters, but thats impossible with most characters now.

I might just let two computers on intense go at it though to see if I can discover some new combos, but I dont expect to find as many as I did in Melee.

Now that you mention it, throw recovery does seem a bit slower than I remember. I just thought I was just rusty at the time though. Only really got to play a few (dozen) free for alls and a long round of subspace emissary so I have to take another round in before I can confirm the feeling.

edit: I'll likely do the same. I'm pretty rusty right now and I have no idea what most of the new characters can really do.

I was playing Melee for like an hour every day up to the release of Brawl so I know Im definitely not rusty. I can practically perform a fight in my head I have played Melee so much.

Im also not so sure that its throw recovery, but rather every thow seems to send your opponent flying just slightly too far to perform a combo with.

Either way I still rock in online play with a really laggy connection, which reminds me. If anyone here has tried the online play, can you tell me if you were lagging a bit or not. Because I am wondering if Im not getting a good wireless signal to my Wii, if its my internet, or if its just slow for everyone.

From what I heard most people are having slight lag time with online play. Haven't tried it yet since I'm still trying to get my feet wet again in single player. The throws didn't seem to go much farther than I remember but then again by the time I do make a throw, my opponents would already have 50% or more damage. I tend to be an opportunist in smash bros. I don't have the kind of callouses to withstand straight prolonged fights for hours on end. My thumbs still hurts from my last game two days ago.
