i don't say it is right to arrest the poor guy, but i can see why it is necessary. but i can understand them. they are scared of the possibilities. What if manga becomes not enough for him anymore? what if he wants to try the real thing? these are scary possibilities.

I agree that the possibilities are bad, but preventive arresting?

it is not preventive arresting. They don't only forbid child porno, they try forbid everything that can use children as a sexual object.

That's not what i meant, i was simply asking if it was preventive arresting that you were talking about, because that would entail that they were trying to prevent him from possibly moving forward from manga onto the real thing.
and was it even stated that he has Loli/shota?
or was it just plain manga/hentai/yaoi or something along those lines?

Oho...yaoi leads to imprisonment...pen full of fujoshis?
Getting locked up for yaoi possession? That's just wrong...I'm not sure if I got it right, was there actually any under-aged material, or has the police just interpreted yaoi that way?
But there's to much real criminals out there for the cops to be spending their time on this...
So now it all depends on jury deciding if it's obscene or a work of art...basically he's screwed

“Do you remember there was a law passed prohibiting making things that simulated child pornography, even if the things actually weren’t?” Gaiman asked, referring to part of the **PROTECT Act (18 U.S.C. Section 1466A). (As in situations where an of-age female is in a pornographic situation, but “where she’s being presented as if she were 13.”) **“They said, ‘For heaven’s sake, we’re not talking about art. We’re only talking about stuff where you’re leading people to believe they’re looking at real child porn,’” said Gaiman.
Well according to the section in bold they did have a reason to arrest him since he had Loli & Shota. That is very frightening since I am a reader of Shota (esp. if you are a fan of CJ Michalskis' work) and reader/watcher of Loli (only one title " Kodomo no Jikan" 😉 the police would be allowed to confiscate my computer and manga. 😲 😲
I can only wonder HOW they found out about him?

Maybe if he wasn't looking at fake child porn to begin with he wouldn't have this problem.
But I agree with everyone else who says its a waste of time. There are child molesters and rapists in the real world who need to be arrested first. Then you can go after the perverts if you really want.

Ok, this makes sense. If I were to paint a picture of some 5 year old getting S&M raped by a grown man, of course it would be considered obscene.
Now if some dude collected these works, well then I would have reason to believe that you are sick sick man, even if you aren't the guy that drew them...
I guess that's how the prosecutors are thinking...
Cool, now I can see how the prosecutors could even possibly have a case...
Now, is their thinking correct?? If it is, can the drawings even be considered obscene? Who's the saint that determines if it is obscene or not?
(with more answers come more questions... 😔 )

The news said that he had Yaoi in with the guys where draw in an endogenous form and had no pubic hair (with in their eyes means they are underage) we all know japs have a thing with pubic hair that is why we hardly ever see that thing unless is a hentai, they are calling a loli to any female that engages in a sexual act in any manga with is WRONG, he had just 3 or 2 mangas that actually had loli (small girls) doing sexual acts... 2 or 3 in the whole collection? we can agree the guy is under the average of any collector, I mean in Many hentai books there is an small girl here and there doing stuff... that doesn't call for prison
This thing is BS and just want to make an example of the poor guy... I haven't seen any evidence that could point that the guy is a sick child rapist, this is wrong very wrong...
This thing was just waiting to happen...It is surprising that so much hentai and worse have been marketed without reserve..I am not a fan of yaoi and in the same genre shota or loli- on one side, any demand for this genre could look as encouragement if it isnt restricted by law and on teh other side, it can serve as a substitute for those might indulge in it in RL and though I know we all have our secret vices- I think the imprisonment serves as a warning to those who somehow think its alright to market those..I might be a minority by the previous posts but to some extent, a form of incarceration is justified though 20 years is a long time for one who didnt actually commit pedophilia..

Bleh. Wish the article would mention what volumes were in his collections. It's tough to judge a guy when all you have is one article and few details.
If he was buying volumes that happened to have it in a chapter or two, you really can't blame them. You looked it has a big breasted woman on the cover. He didn't know an elementary school kid was in there.
That said, I can imagine him getting nailed just the same for drawings of jailbait having sex. Gotta feel for those poor bastards getting sent up river for mistaking a seventeen year old for an eighteen year old but what are you going to do. That's why I stick to girls in their mid twenties and up.
If he knowingly bought loli-hentai or shota-yaoi about raping little kids, then yeah, he got caught red handed. Feels like an invasion of privacy but he knew he shouldn't have brought comics with guys raping little kids in diapers to the U.S. in the first place. Pay his fines, do his time and be more careful next time.

Well I shouldn't be surprised this is happening but before I could really make an informed comment about this I would like to know exactly what they are getting so excited about, would be great if someone leaked the titles of the offending manga. Based on the articles I have read though it seems like a huge over reaction by the people bringing the charges against this guy. I do have a question though, does anyone know of any articles or press releases that arn't from people supporting him? It would be nice to hear something from them.

Someday, there will be "Internet Police" that monitors our internet activities...our manga leeches and they will call us "Paedophiles" just because we download loli and shotacon off the internet...
and 4chan will not be as independent as it is now.
