I'm 19 at the moment and I know for a fact I haven't hugged my parents in 15+ years. Not that our relationship's that bad - we're just not a hugging family... In a way, I'm actually surprised at the number that do hug. That's pretty sweet though.

My family really never hugs, or gets very close in any other way, very often. I don't think i have ever hugged my dad and it would be really awkward and uncomfortable if we ever did. and i think the last time i hugged my mother was about 10 years ago when i was 13 and my grandfather had just passed away. Like many others have said its not that we all don't get along its just that we don't show affection through physical interactions.

I hug my surviving parent whenever we are in the same city. We live about eighty miles apart.

This is just a note to those who've noticed that many have selected the 'longer than any of the above' or 'within the last 5 years'. I selected within the last 5 years, because both of my parents have died. So the last time I got to hug them was a while back. But I do hug other members of my family, every day or as often as I get to see them. I do wish I had hugged them more.

I hug my mother/dad every day if possible
