Genre Preference

I am a girl and I prefer shounen/seinen to shoujo/josei. My friend is the same. So I just wanted to see how many rebels we have here...
I read only seinen... shōjo and shōnen are too predictable.
Some times I cross some titles, but I lose all interest very soon.

my fav genre would be shoujo, but i do like some shounen... the funny, well drawn ones.
the best security guard, EVER.
I'm male and I do tend more towards the seinen/shonen bent but I have been know to read a Shojo and enjoy the hell out of it, Hana Kimi and Kare Kano are both in that category.

I'm a female, and I chose the shoujo/josei option, although a huge chunk of the stuff I read is shounen/seinen. In all honesty, I don't particularly prefer either "shoujo" or "shounen" because both usually include the same-old same-old plotline used over and over again - shoujo with the unrealistic schoolgirl romance, and shounen with the power-ups and endless fights and long, boring spiels about, "Becoming stronger to protect my friends..." and all that.
What I really love is those good ones that sort of break the mold - shoujo with shounen elements, and shounen with shoujo elements. Because as a girl, I am nonetheless interested in mystery and violence and dark stuff in general, and so I feel deprived when I read your typical shoujo (with the exception of tragedy shoujo; I feed on tragedy). But I also like romantic relationships and thought-provoking content, so one way or another, I'm always left wanting something else.
My favorite manga are ones that mix the two, like Chrno Crusade, a mostly-shounen title with a very reasonable length, a strong conclusion, and just the right amount of romance.
Another one, shoujo this time, is Immortal Rain, a shoujo that at first seems a little (a lot) weird and typical, but ends up breaking out of its mold and becoming a series all its own. Hehe, and the third volume even has an explicit content warning for general darkness and violence, which makes me oddly happy.
Does that mean I'm weird?
I just wish I could find more that have a little of both genres.

I read everything, mostly josei and seinen... but there's no option for that. It's prolly because I'm getting old that I like manga for older people. 😳

🤣 Sorry.
Okay, since Mamsmilk said that "old" is taboo word, we're um, a little mature? And I like genres that are for mature readers (except hentai).

While I do read all 4 of those genres, I (male) prefer Shounen/Seinen. A lot of it is due to the fact a lot of sports are classified as shounen and i really love those.

I'm female and prefer shonen/seinen. Not to say one of my favorite mangas isn't shoujo (Fruits Basket), but my favorite mangas also include Katekyo Hitman Reborn and GetBackers.
Que sera sera.

I read a wide range of stuff. I used to be into shoujo but getting bored of that cos it's the same cliched thing again and again. I've been reading a fair bit of Shounen and Seinen lately.
