Okay, I've never really liked student-teacher mangas, but I fell in love with Ciel so I thought I'd give them a shot. What I want is pretty specific, though.

  1. It must be the main character who is in the relationship. I don't want it to be their best friend or their parents or something.

  2. The man must be the teacher (though BL and even GL are okay, as long as they aren't hardcore).

3.Their relationship must be realistic. By that I mean, I don't want it to be some smut manga about some lecherous teacher who sexually harasses some poor student and then they fall in love. He has to behave like a teacher, and therefore he can't do anything to the student that she doesn't want, because a teacher who sexually harasses a student would definitely be fired. It's fine if they flirt or whatever after they're together, but he's got to realize that he can't treat her like any other girl.

  1. It must be primarily from the student's perspective.

  2. No glasses.

  3. No lolicon. I don't want some perverted 30-year-old trying to stick his hands down the pants of some poor eight-year-old kid. Eww.

  4. Whether or not they see their relationship as problematic doesn't matter as long as their interactions are realistic (going back to point 5).

Thanks. Any suggestions you can give are much appreciated.

Edit: By the way, if you love me, the guy will have light hair. If not I'll forgive you, though. 🙂

Switch (MOCHIZUKI Karin) is probably the best one to suggest.
Main girl protagonist (check).
Male teacher with light colored hair (check).
Realistic / secretive (check) - you won't see physical passion... things are hinted and left to your imagination. 🙂 (particularly a certain memory in chapter 8)
Mainly girl's POV (but you do get some of the teacher's POV as well).
No glasses. No problem. 😀
Eww... most definitely not lolicon (I stay away from that as well).

Stories that are not exactly realistic --
7 Genme wa Himitsu is shoujo fluff.
Help!! is not super realistic.
Ten no Ryuu Chi no Sakura - okay... it's supernatural/fantasy... but oh so fluffy!! 😀

I actually had oresama sensei and Faster than a Kiss in mind when I was making the list of what I didn't want.

Oh! My Darling doesn't look super realistic, but I'll look into it.

@ hobbitelf - thanks. Switch looks really good. As for your other suggestions, they look interesting (except for maybe Help! I'm not really into crybaby female characters . . .). Shoujo fluff does have it's merits 🙂 .

😀
Yeah, sorry... I forgot that the female lead in Help!! is pretty cry-baby...

I realized I had some student-teacher manga on my wishlist that looks rather promising!
**I apologize in advance if the teacher has glasses... (since these are on my wishlist...)
Kiss -- based on the description, it seems like it could be realistic, no? ♥ slice-of-life.
Sensei! -- based on reviews, seems like a pretty good one too. (only... scanlations are MIA)
Melodramatic Library -- hmm... a one-shot I haven't read... but I know that I like this mangaka's work.
I Love Her -- okay... yeah... 16-year-old living by herself (please...) but, I'm staring at the "nice guy" category tag, so I'm thinking... hmm... it might not be bad...
Suki. Dakara Suki -- if this story can be read to a child (based on a reviewer comment), it's probably not some ravenous relationship, right? looool...

Sekai wa Happy de Dekiteru
The guy has black hair, though, and he starts out as the girl's ski instructor. Later, he gets a job at her school to fill in for a teacher on maternity leave, and they meet again as teacher and student. They don't do anything beyond kissing.

Sensei ni, Ageru
Light-haired teacher. The art is cute, but I have some reservations about the settings. See, the girl is only 14. That's the age of Lolita in the movie (she's 12 in the novel, I hear). In some countries and eras, 14 is an eligible age, but yeah... Anyway, he's not her teacher yet when they meet for the first time, and she's dressed and made up (not that there's any real distinction to me).

The one-shot "Baby It's You" from P x P (scanlated by Shoujo Crusade)
Again, black hair. It's really short, though.

Okay, thanks. Some of these are definitely going on the list. Any more?

I second Switch (Mochizuki Karin). It's lovely. Sensei! is nice, too, but the main character does kind of fall into the usual black-haired "megane-danshi" type.
Everything else I might suggest has already been suggested, other than a few shoujo-ai: Junsui Adolescence, The Proof of Her Love, and When She Touches Me.
