it's a bad english translation of bad japanese romanji trying to speak bad english =)

yeah...what's up with that. All of a sudden, I hear them saying the word "Vampire" with a strong Japanese accent on it.....don't they have "Vampire" in Japanese?

vampire-kyuuketsuki, they usualy use romaji to give the meaning more impact that's why some songs and manga/anime have engrish in them.

Ayu in Deep Love. The way she'll do anything, and ends up never receiving anything in return, nor knowing that what she died for eventually turned true. And the way people are used around her, and she lets herself be abused.

I don't really have an a serious opinion, but i can't just not post, can i?

The question isn't really to precise. Either you mean a charcter who feels very sad, or a charcter who has the most bad stuff happen to him.

I'll just split it up.

  1. person who is sad(emotionally):
I am lookinf for somebody who is seriously depressed and being at least slightly suicidal would be good to. NHK seems a good fit. The whole cast, afraid of society, unable to have a relationship, no self esteem at all, and on and on and on.
  2. person who draws the unluckiest possible life:
Gril from THE TOWN OF EVENING
CALM, THE COUNTRY OF CHERRY BLOSSOMS who lives a poor life and starts dying a long winding death of cancer shortly after she is proposed to. ( story takes place 10 years after the bomb in hiroshima )

bully_jesus makes a legitimate point - are we talking about someone who is sad, or someone who makes the reader sad?

Is sad:

  1. Probably Sayoko from Mahoraba. Not too many manga feature a suicidal character.

  2. Rin from Fruits Basket (she 0wns Tooru on emotional issues).

Makes the reader sad:

  1. Just about any of the girls from Gunslinger Girl. Particularly Claes and Rico.
  2. Yeah, the girl from THE TOWN OF EVENING CALM, THE COUNTRY OF CHERRY BLOSSOMS.
  3. Either Ai or Ikuru from Ai-Ren. I'd say Ikuru edges out Ai because of the mode of his demise.
  4. Hinomura Yo from Crying Freeman.

Need to be a little more specific, because 'saddest' could be mean various things depending on your view. The choices below are not my final atm, but are the first characters that popped into my mind.

Sad as in:

  1. Pathetic, every attempt in their life is just a futile joke:
Uchiyamada Hiroshi from GTO (nothing goes right for this guy)

  2. Depressing, their journey is a nonstop, downspiral freefall with no bottom:
Ryo Narushima from Shamo (life improves and never for the better)

  3. Mournful, stolen by death, their passing is heartbreaking :
Saya Minatsuki, from Black Cat (love the character, it's so sad..)

  4. Sorrowful, character struggles forth on a dark path into a beak future:
Gats/Gatz/Guts/Gutz (lol), from Berserk (reminds me of Batman)

  5. Shameful, unable to stop their scandalous behavior or actions:
Oe Kintarou, from Golden Boy (guy is funny as hell)

  6. Wasteful, character had tons of potential but the storyline flopped:
Chi, from Chobits (after the ending, you just had to tear your hair out)

Hope one of my choices covered your view 😃

I'll have to agree with Chise from Saikano, Its just so sad what happens to her and what she has to go through.
Also I'd have to say Nyuu/Lucy from Elfen Lied.

Word!!.... but that's what makes Vagabond such a bad-ass manga.

Also all the kids in Gunslinger Girl.

Chise in Saikano.
Either of the two main characters in Ai-Ren.

My thoughts exactly
