Heh, yeah. The "like" comes quite often when I speak German. I don't know why. Also when I'm angry and scold my children I tend to get multilingual.

That happens particularly with words that sound the same in both languages. As example the English "bed" and the German "Bett". Both sound and mean the same but my brain mixes it up, so when I want to tell them in German to go to bed it happens that I say the sentence in English because of this one word.

Same but my Vietnamese has been deterriorating (the accent, not vocabulary). Sometimes I mean to say one thing but somehow my tongue convulses and it comes out like crap which is kinda embarassing ending with me proceeding to hastily correct my verbal spew... Well there are some thing I know in Vietnamese but not English (mostly food and culturally relative terms).

I don't generally mix up languages... I usually ask someone if they understand/speak another language before I switch on them. I can only manage to switch seemlessly from English to my home languages but can muster the courage to switch to French as well.

i could really speak well in english when i'm talking to myself but i'm having hard times formulating words when i have to talk to somebody...

I can't call it a mistake, but when I speak some foreign language for a long time i can't freely switch it to another foreign language. it do look like my brain has a special switch or something for each language.

it was a completely brain-twisted situation when I met my Japanese and talked with them for almost an hour, Swedish words just didn't come to my head when I run onto my Swedish friend at the store. I just told him in English, that I can't speak with him Swedish right now.

quite funny. maybe it's because I've been studying English at school and I got it printed somewhere deeper than Swedish and Japanese which I started to learn later.

Lawl, scolding in German, truly awesome! In fact i'd like to know German when I want to reprimand/scold/terrify-humiliate randomly someone, and French when I want to make fun of someone: dont ask me why, I just picture them as the fittest languages for these tasks 😛

As for me, sometimes when I'm speaking I remember the English term but not the Italian's one, lawl 🤣

... 4 languages isn't a lot, i have a friend an she speaks: Japanese, English, German, Russian, Viet and Korean. But then again she's keen on ebcoming a professional translator

btw, she was living in Viet for a while and was born mixed blood (Japanese and German parents) so that explains 3 languages so far, Korean she learnt from watching dramas and english is a standard :/

I don't make those mistakes; and I know Dutch, German, English, Arabic and French. Studied Latin and Ancient Greek as well (useful for etymologic purposes). And of course, I know some obligatory Japanese words from watching anime, and the like. On a very simple basis, that is.

Hmm, I do hate when I can't come up with a word in the language that I want, but I do know it some other language... That's frustrating.

I do this sometimes and I'm only bilingual. Not really as a mistake but just cause there are some words where there are no good translations.

My father only speaks pure Vietnamese and sometimes I would accidentally throw in a few cantonese words in there. But that's usually the only time I would mix something up. I don't speak other languages much other than cantonese and english at work&home. 😀

i sometimes mix up my norwegian and english, sometimes i even throw in some french, just to make it confusing lol

im an exchange student, and i've started talking to my host brother and realizing after a few sentences and a funny look that im speaking in norwegian and not english 🤣
but i do curse and stuff in norwegian in class xD

I now resort on Spanglish 🙁 I stumble on my words in Spanish (my native tongue) and my dad lives to correct me all the time. So I say one part in Spanish until I can't find the right word and replace it with English, it's frustrating sometimes.

Yeah I do that too, or when I talk to fast I somehow end up switching to spanish because its easier to talk fast for some reason. Oh and I sometimes switch up the sounds of the vowels by accident so I get a spanish accent out of nowhere.
