Are there any games that you thought should've gotten a different ESRB rating than they did?

ESRB ratings never mattered to me, whether I was an elementary school student playing Mortal Kombat games or when I was able to buy my own games. No one has ever said no to me buying 'M'-rated games.

EB games stopped me from buying "conker's bad fur day" when I was younger, so I stopped buying from EB games.

Never cared for ratings. What I want I buy. It was like that when I was 3 (though my parents bought me stuff I wanted) and it still is like that now. Hell, Resident Evil 2 was my favourite game when I was 10, just because it scared the hell out of me.

My parents tried to keep me in a sack my whole life, but
I still liked Silent Hill when I was 11.
My friend had a mod chip for his PS and he had
a lot of games that his uncle gave to him who was
like 22 or something.

I never look at that. When I was a kid, I already played 18+ games.

Yea same here, my parents would buy me any game if they let me buy any games at all. Sadly they don't approve of gaming period, but thank god for the ability to be able to walk to the mall and soon to drive by myself. I payed for a full 7 months of world of warcraft b4 i quit and my parents never noticed. And I never look at ESRB ratings

I ALWAYS look at ESRB ratings. Mostly I look at the descriptors on the back so I know not to play it in front of my parents.

I know not to play games in front of my parents period 😛 Last time I did that, my dad snapped my Diablo 2:LoD disk in half (nowadays i play with no cd cracks, but that was awhile ago). I was crushed, LoD was so awesome back then, and i was such an addict (got another copy a few days later from a friend 🤣 , but I regretted spending those few days away from D2)

What is ESRB? 😕 Is that that rating thing on games like movie ratings?

ESRB stands for entertainment software rating board or something like that. Yea it basically rates games.
EC- early childhood
E-everyone
E+10- everyone 10 and older
T- teen (most of the games I play)
M- mature (most of the games i play)
Ao- adults only

Ouch, your dad really hates games. Any reason for that?

Sometimes I don't fully get game ratings. One game will be Teen (or the equivalent depending on the country 😲 ) while another will be Mature just because it has more blood, yet in both the games you are still KILLING 🤢 people. Its just that one has blood and the other doesn't.

It doesn't seem like stores really care about the ratings, I bourght an R16 game (I think closest to Mature but you have to be 16 to buy it) when I was 12... stores just don't really seem to care.

He was quite profoundly affected by some magazine article on videogame addiction, the next day after he read it, my N64 was taken away =(

That sound kind of like one of my friends mothers, she lets him play games where you are killing aliens (even if they are humanoid) but as soon as he starts to play a game its "Your shooting people" and the powercord is ripped from the wall.
