I did a quick search on wikipedia and there have only been 25 games that have ever been given the AO rating at one point or another.
All of the games except for 3 got the rating for mainly Strong Sexual Content.

As long as they deserve the rating though, there's nothing wrong with getting that kind of rating.
And game creators are probably well aware that any game that gets that kind of rating will not sell too well - access to it will be very limited.

Question: In games why can you mutilate, kill, and torture people in an M rated game, but if it has a sex scene (Indigo Prophecy) it must be rated AO?
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢

Yeah, it shows that since there is such a small amount of AO games that all the games that get the AO rating deserve.

At my Grandparents house my 9 and 6 year old cousins enjoy playing Doom 1, Return to Castel Wolfenstein and many other violent games (but nothing that is really bad) 😀

Exactly. The ESRB is a crappy system. You shouldn't believe the ratings of games. Most of them are misleading. That's the whole reason I made this thread.

Polite bump.
Not particularly. I never looked at the ratings, nor did the game clerks really care if an 11-year-old kid bought an 18+ game. It really is a crappy system that was implemented by the "morally righteous people" (AKA moralfags).
