alright i'm black....and me and my brothers used to to talk about this all the time, but if you're looking for a real black person try Bob from Tenjho Tenge also i'd 2nd Dutch from Black Lagoon......and uhhhh there's been a couple of black boxers in Hajime no Ippo like Jason Ozuma....and by the way i dont think it's that they "don't acknowledge us" it's just that.....how many black people are you gonna run into in Japan ya know?
edit..................and yourichi from Bleach too, then thay black guy from Blood + forgot his name, and there was a black guy on Dragonball
Jet Black, Cowboy Bebop.
There are some as main character in manga, like in
Me and the devil blues
Blaster Knuckle
Not that popular manga though.

Quite a few actually, especially in Tokyo and Yokohama... I was surprised myself.... I'm not black.... but quite 'tanned' due to my ethnicity. There are actually some black celebrities in Japan.... there's even a black Enka singer, and he's quite popular. Most Japanese don't mind as long as you speak their language. (the older generation are a bit rigid, though)
But yeah... you don't find that many black characters in manga/anime.... lots of dark Japanese, but not many that are black by ethnicity.

There's also Ball from Satan 666, but he's such a loser even his best friend doesn't bother to remember him.

Jet Black was not black.
Dutch from Black Lagoon and in Blood+ it was James, one of Diva's chevaliers.
Tobi from Noein could have been black, or he had just realy dark skin.

They just introduced a black guy in naruto. the eight tails jinchriki (spelled horribly)
Or he might be darkskin.

But i doubt he'll become a major character.
Btw, Jet wasn't black.
...i think
Isn't black his surname? òÖ
[Insert random made up theory here to justify Jet is afro american]
Well in the anime wasn't really, but if it's afro-american, I don't see why it has to be black.
Or it's mind playing games on me, long time since I had watched Cowboy Bebop.

Does Afro Samurai count?!?
Can't get much 'blacker' than that.
Straying from topic a bit.... I always wondered why the Japanese are so into afros. I've asked some friends in Tokyo, but even they don't really know when and why it started.

The problem is most black guys in anime are a powered up version of Mr. T except for afro.....yea......
