I am soooo sorry if I offend anybody by saying this but isn't this site considered blogging as well? I mean people put their information on this site almost everyday ( what they are doing right now, favorite food, etc, ect) Despite it being small meaningless questions, we still trust this site with the info we put on it. This should be considered an addicting website because many of you who don't have a social website account log on to this almost everyday. Yes we read manga but it's not real life if anyone even notice at all and most of us is replacing this with reality. There is a thin line about what we do on this website and what others do on social websites. If your an addict for this website, your no different than addicts for social websites. Self examination people!!

Also I'm on facebook but I don't let it run my life. This is the only place where I can talk to my cousins who live in Jamaica and my friends who are abroad in school.

But if it makes you happy to win on the internet, have at it.

Obviously, you don't know the meaning of the word "blogging" and the difference between it and forums.

Yes, I do.
I have an account at Facebook, although I (mostly) only use it for playing games. But then again some of my friend check their facebook more often than their cellphone, so it's easier to connect them with facebook.

Don't have a need for them. The people I know I keep in touch with via e-mail or good ol' telephone. Some are on my IM (Jabber/Gtalk) list and some folk I keep in touch with via irc, forums or mailing lists. I value anonymity and privacy, so I don't really see a point in putting more info than required online.

A couple of companies I'm attached to have MySpace pages, but I don't maintain those personally. I did sign up for G+, but that was mainly to make the annoying invites stop, and canceled the account within a week anyway. Only "social" place I'm currently a member of is Github, but that's more of a platform for code sharing. A few people have been urging me to get on Diaspora, but I haven't really thought about it too much.

There are many social networking websites like google plus, orkut, myspace and so on. But I like facebook more. Due to this we can easily connect with our family and friends.

NO.

Never used them, never liked them, and never will.

In fact, I have most social networking "hubs" (ip blocks) permanently blocked... Which unsurprisingly speeds up page load times for many websites by a lot, and of course is a big step toward a cleaner internet.
And honestly, so far I don't believe I've missed much, judging from hearsay and the occasional news message. I'm glad I've been able to finish my education before it pretty much became a requirement in that sector.

No. I made one last year but I only used it for few days and left it alone. It's too much work keeping up with friends and their "updates". And I HATE those updates. The few days I used it, I saw useless posts like "I'm eating ice cream with blank and blank", filling up the first page.

It amazes me how people likes to share all those useless craps. They're no celebrity or anything but somehow, those posts make me feel like they're trying to be like one.

Another thing I hate about FB is that people would randomly add me just because we're on the same school, same grade, or even same neighborhood. I don't see how they would add me as friend when we're not. (I know we don't have to be necessarily friends to be 'friends' in facebook..but I don't like the idea)

I don't like to use them, but unfortunately almost everyone in my grade has one, and if I need to get some information about club meetings or certain assignments I'm required to pay a visit to FB.

I have a facebook. It can be convenient sometimes. I don't hate it nor love it.

I don't use them either. I don't think its very substantive for friendships, and it can be a distraction. Not just when you're wasting time but when you're with your actual friends and instead of trying to have fun as a group you'll be waiting till someone does something while your off, and that's just rude.

I can see why and where it might be useful but seeing how people's friends on those things are in the triple digits, it's .. I dunno, I used ot have a large number of people on a chat client and ended up deleting almost anyone that wasn't really someone I could talk to.

I did have a facebook account and a myspace but I hardly updated and facebook kicked me out. I'm not above giving them another chance but I don't see why people need them as much as their popularity would indicate. I think it's just to show off pictures, not really the same as planning something as friends ect.

Yes, but reluctantly.

I admit they can be convenient for a few things, but only because everyone relies on them so much already. I only have facebook for a few nearby friends who don't use email and can't find a time to meet up in person. Major campus events and issues are also posted there through the uni's page.

My name and email are the only personal information on there though, and all the privacy settings are locked down. Anyone else who needs to contact me already knows how to do so.

I use Facebook on a regular basis due to it being hooked up to my phone and I have a couple friends who I can't really reach any other way on there. But I really hate the annoying people on fb but I have been know to make the odd pointless status. Nothing overly dramatic though. Hate all the drama happening. Urgh.
