I have a facebook but I don't use it... I just check it every once in a while to make sure none of my distant relatives in Italy messaged me. 🙄

The only time I use facebook is to support (or "like") a group or website. And I do stuff like that once a week. And that would be my only use of facebook. Twitter? Barely. The other social networks ...never in my life.

So I guess I've become what you'd call "a convert."

I used to hate SNW. I was forced to get a MySpace, now I can't even remember what was the username, I hope it got deleted, cuz I can't remember what I put on there. I was young and foolish, but that's not an excuse, I know.

Since Myspace, I've learned that I should not join any SNW, if I don't like it, don't care about it, and don't maintain it. It will just end up the same as that account, as well as any other account I happen to create.

People have becoming too lazy to send private single emails (they sent group emails instead - which I don't respond) and I felt like I was losing touch with my friends... I know there are times that I don't send emails to a lot of people, but it doesn't mean that I don't care about what's going on in their lives. I figured they'd feel the same. I pity us for not having the moments to send the same message to a lot of people in single emails (instead of group emails).

I guess it is a personal petty to receive group emails so I do prefer to choose what comes into my mailbox/ feeds, instead of having my Inbox flooded with tons and tons of emails about this video and that photos.

That's when I joined FB.

The pros I got from FB is that a lot of interesting things get fed through the networks, and I can go wander to different pages, images, musics, illustrators, blogs, etc. pretty much anything I can get my hands (and eyes) on to. It's a hub for sharing and obtaining new stuffs through friends and acquaintances.

To a lot of people, SNW is real and I think it has become very real in a way. You can judge other people on SNW, but that is the truth about themselves, what they want to portray to the world. I do judge people on there. I do block people I don't care for, and don't want them to know about my life, what I like, what I think, what I share to my sister and my cousin oversea.

Any other SNW can be a stalking-support machine, and I know a lot of people do that. It doesn't mean that you have to let them stalk you as well. I was harassed on FB before by an ex-co-worker (he was a racist). I blocked him. End of story.

You just have to be smart about what you share and what you don't.

I have a twitter, facebook, myspace, youtube, linkedin, plus all the other social networking websites I had to sign up for cause of classes. I got a Bachelor in Radio/Television and for some of the classes I had to be active in social networking and even create a website.

Some of the social networking websites I have an accounts are just there and I don’t mess with them. The others, sad to say, because of my choice of the career I want to have; I need a certain level of web presents. That needed level of web presents rises when searching for a job too. (I’m a techi not talent just fyi)

I will say one of the biggest reasons why I use Social Media Websites is so I can see what is posted about me. Even though I’m careful how I act, there’s always that one person who would photo-shop you into a bad pic just as a joke.

Oh btw for those who may not know it’s best to have 2 particular e-mails. 1- for your personal life and the 2nd for business/professional. Your personal email is just what it sounds like. Your business e-mail should be a professional name (many colleges will give students emails that will work as professional email) and that email be use for social websites like linkedin, which you would want your bosses, potential bosses, coworker, potential college and ect., to see. The reason is: if you turn in a resume with an email, not only will they put your name in a search engine they can also put in your email in a search engine and see all the other accts you are in and at least try to look at them. This gives you a little more control on what other people will find when searching for information on you through the internet.

Sorry I kinda went on a rant their didn’t I… 😳

Yes, but only to talk to friends I actually met in real life. Sometimes I'm just too embarrassed to ask for their emails or #s so i just add them on facebook.
