turn off avatars or sigs

Interesting idea, I'd support this considering some avatars and sigs are actually pretty annoying or disturbing (or both).
And even if this does gets implemented, it'll be an option for yourself not manditory for everyone. So if you like seeing these things then leave it on or turn it off otherwise.

Some people have some ridiculous sigs

This suggestion could prove useful to those who have a low bandwidth or some similar case like that.
Personally, I like seeing people's avatars and sigs, and how they choose to profile themselves on the forum. Sometimes there are bothersome sigs with an unnecessarily height or size. My GIFs are included in that. What can I say, I like them! Look at them explode...

This makes me wonder if you see any NSFW sigs/avatars? Our standard protocol is that they aren't allowed anyways.

A lot of the fanservice images in sigs aren't all that appropriate for a public place, but are still clean enough to not push into NSFW territory.

Umm... Depends on where you're working, I guess. I find people use the term NSFW too sparingly.

Okay, after fiddling around with internet options, I found a way to not download any images. It pretty much achieves the same effect as disabling avatars and sigs, since you will no longer download any images unless you specifically choose to. (Maybe you guys already know this, but I didn't, so I'll go ahead and tell you all anyway.) Oh, and I only know how to do this in internet explorer, since that's all I use, but there's probably a similar method to do this with other browsers.
So, you simply go to "tools" on the main menu, then select "internet options," and click on the "advanced" tab. Scroll down the list of items with checkboxes until you get to the "multimedia" section, and uncheck the "show pictures" box. You will probably have to reload the webpage you're viewing for it to take effect. (If you want, you could also uncheck "play animations in webpages" and "play sounds in webpages" while you're there.) Now, in place of the images, there will be a little box where the images would be, usually with some alternative text. Of course, this means you won't download any images at all, so as far as disabling avvies and sigs goes, this is kind of overkill. If you happen to want to see a particular image, right click on the image's placeholder and select "show picture."
Personally, I think doing this works pretty well for now.

The same can be done if you use Firefox, it's just less complicated. I don't know if the admins are looking into this suggestion and even if they are I doubt it'd be their top priority right now.

If some avatar and sigs really bother you that much just block the images yourself for now. Right click on any users avatar and scroll down to "Block images from mangaupdates" this will block all avatars from MU. To unblock go to tools, scroll down to 'options' under the 'content tab' click 'exceptions,' next to "Load images automatically" there you can unblock when you please.
To disable sigs same thing. In the 'exception' page look for 'other' under website(s) type in mangaupdates, in the next bar, "remove" type in the kind of files you wish to disable (IE: JPG, GIFS).
The only downside is that it removes all images as well, even for series~ 😐
I tried it and it seems to work fine, the page looks so bland though. 🤣

If you don't like it, then set your browsers to not load images automatically instead of asking them to make a function that would basically do the same thing.

i made the suggestion since using browser options blocks all images, while with the suggestion, images will still load, and the site wont look as bland, since only avatars/ sigs are blocked, and its a pain turning it on/off just to view a single site
