I like both Love hina and Negima as manga but as an anime Negima sucks (I actually was reading the manga before it became an anime unlike love hina which I watched first) I also read Ai love you (Ken's first manga) which also rocked.
But maybe the content of the manga of Negima is too risque as an anime.....?!

Characters don't really age in Negima. That's one of the things I don't like about it. In Love Hina the characters actually aged at the same rate at which the manga was released. It's been what? all of 1 year in the time of their world since the manga started, they haven't had time to age. A time skip might help, but the story line has to slow down a bit for that to happen and it's kind of at terminal velocity and accelerating atm.

I always thought Negima should be put in Shotacon genre dead (That class rep was THINKING IMPURE THOUGHTS OF HIM!) eek At least Ako fell in love with the "adult version of him, and I think most of the girls think of him as a kid brother.

love hina was fantastic for it's era, ken's art was refreshing, the comedy with the story plot was over-the-top and fun. as for the romance, in hindsight it was quite simple, it was perfect for the 90's.
but there are way more better romance plot with comedy these days.
for negima, it shows ken's improvements. the manga is PACKED with detail, personally i agree he kinda shot himself in the foot with so many characters, but Negima builds on Love Hina action, in a more serious tone.
I personally like Negima, i like the action.
The romance takes second place, the opposite of love hina where the action-comedy was secondary.
while it's typical shounen GUTS theme, you have to admire the atmosphere he creates, i've yet to find a manga that does a grand-scale battle such as the festival invasion arch as good as Negima.
you can really feel the pressure and the excitement of the raging battle on multiple fronts.

I like both, but voted Negima. Onizuka-GTO pretty much hit the nail on the head, and has said what I wanted to say. (>.<)-b
My additional thought:
*Love Hina was a little predictable. Didn't make it any less fantastic, but I sort of knew what was going to happen while I was reading.
*I think Negima would probably make a very good RPG/Adventure-type game, except we'd already know the story from the manga.

I have to go with Negima. Now, I loved Love Hina. It's one of my favorite manga. But I just prefer Negima. But it's also kind of hard to compare the two because they are different genre. Now there's common factors in each, such as the harem thing and the comedy. However, Love Hina is focused around a love story (a promise made between two people in childhood). As the story develops it takes you through the trial of first confessing your love, then maintaining your love when faced with problems.
Negima has romance in it, but it's really not that focused on as it is in Love Hina. And this is mainly due to the fact that the main character is 10. But I was surprised at how this manga turned out. I was really expecting a romance manga with some magic thrown into it. But in fact, it's the other way around. Instead of watching love being developed, we are watching a kid become a man by following his ambition, and gaining strength. I mean, most of the manga (the festival) was focused around how Negi all of a sudden turned into a super badass fighter, and the current arc is focusing on Negi becoming even stronger so he can defeat his ultimate nemesis (for the time being).
So, they're two different manga, and which one you like more depends on which genre you prefer. I mostly read romance/harem manga, but Negima is one action-focused manga that I really anticipate reading every week (or however often it comes out).

Since they're both in different genres I can choose to like both right.

I'm not really fond of neither Negima or Love Hina, but I voted for Love Hina because I've watched the Love Hina anime. ^_^ I've also read a little of Negima, but I lost interest in reading it. 😛
