I much prefer Negima, as I find the plot to be much more interesting (although, I'm comparing the Negima manga vs. the Love Hina anime, which probably isn't fair...).

I didn't think I'd like Negima when I first started reading it, but was pleasantly surprised. People's complaints about the fan service are fair, though, as sometimes I get annoyed with how contrived those scenarios are, but despite that, I still really enjoy the series.

Characters in Negima based a lot of their characters on Love Hina and I have to say they're both good. However I'm more into action and fighting rather than just plain romance. Therefore I'll have to say I enjoy Negima a bit more.

Comparing Negima and Love Hina is kind of like comparing apples to oranges. But I still like Negima! more.

Kinda surprised that there isn't a "Both are awesome" option...

Anyway, I voted "Both Suck". I'm not really a big fan of Akamatsu's works.

I prefer Negi... I wish more people read it. It's reaally good. Critics will be critics but if it helps. Even the cliched? tournament had it's own uniqueness. Dramatism isn't underplayed enough to say it's a horrible romance. The action scenes are pretty well played out. The ALWAYS WIN hero thing isn't there at all. He's more of a brains than brawn character but isn't lacking in toughness either. The harem thing is over-rated in a way that people expect something cliched as hell. It's not like that. The plot may be a bit simple but it's at least worth getting into, even if you HATE manga like this. Just start on Volume 3 chapter sixteen. If you feel like skipping go ahead. Read a summary on a few chapters and go to a different arc, it's still worth at least being where the manga is now because it's gotten pretty damn serious for the manga it is.

I like love hina better. While I love Negima (especially more later on), Love Hina is short and sweet, while right now I spend my days waiting for Negima to end (because it's finishing; not that I actually want it to end)

There's this thing called the full stop. You should look it up.

One series concentrates more on romance/slice of life whereas the other concentrates on fantasy action with a side of harem/romance.
I can't compare between them. I like them both :\

i read both, i say suck to both of them.

i read love hina years and years ago. that one manga leaving big impression on me. but that's because i read all volumes in single night. i was ignoring all fillers, all lamenesses, and all pointless plot elements. ignoring those 90% content leave me appraised it as "great manga about learning relationship". but after one re-read few years ago, "is this the great manga i've read long time ago? wat?"

i read negima from its first chapter's release, "baaaaad." but because my reading list isn't as immense as months later, i keep reading it. well, its exciting. but the same illogical pattern made me hate it, how come a brat become love interest of many middle school student? during my middle school days (and high school days), most girls attracted to guys older than they are, if not the normally same age. however, i'm not dismissing the goodness of some arc, read my commentary on this manga information page if you want to know.

concluded, it wasn't the story that is bad. its not even the story telling style. the idiotic pattern, the pointless subplot, and THE over recurring ecchiness that makes it judged suck.

I love both manga

But while Love Hina has my second favourite Genre in Ecchi

Negima combines it with my fav genre which is Battle. therefor Negima wins.

Same here (except i didn't read it in one night!). Really loved it back then, but now it just feels rather cliched.
Still like it a bit more than negima, though both are OK.
