Gakuen Alice - shoujo where it's more about the kids, their abilities, and the school. There is some romance but it doesn't drive the story, at least as far as I've read. It's one of my favorites.

If you like Katsu then try some of the mangaka's other work like H2.

pretty much every manga (and every story ever told) has a romantic aspect, but if you want it split down the middle then DNAngel may be what ur lookin 4
