i once read in the metro that a priest put a ginuea pig recipe in a cook book and it was recieved angrily. People seem to be thinking that eating mice, dogs, cats etc are worng?
What do you think?
edit:
could you fix the spelling for the topic please thanks.
To me, eating anything dead isn't a crime.
To me, eating a guinea pig is no big deal.
We eat cows and pigs, which are 10 times
more intelligent than any fat rodent.

Vegetarian says no!
I want to say "yes" but you'd be surprised at how many people actually do it. =/
I have relatives who have eaten dead hamsters, rabbits and even guinea pigs. ._.
Anyway, yeah, I do think it's wrong. It won't stop people from doing it though.

Well... I have a pet dog and in other countries it might be a common meal. So, I don't really care all that much, as long as they don't eat my dog and I don't eat any dog while I'm there. Same with any other 'pet' animals. I don't have a problem with it, it's not wrong because most animals are meant to be eaten. 😛

If it's actually my pet, it enters a morale gray area. It's definitely wrong to kill a pet to eat it, though.

Never had a pet. O_O And hmm, personally I would never do it myself, but let them choose what they want. Although buying a pet just to eat it is kinda cruel. <__>

I probably wouldn't be able to do it but I don't see anything wrong with anyone eating their pet. I think the reasons for being able to abstain from doing so, exist mainly because we have abundance of food for much of the population. I think in times of extreme hunger, most people would be driven to desperate means.

depends how much the pet means to you, i mean like if you really loved it like a friend let's say, then I'd doubt you'd be able to bring yourself to eat it
Pigs are apparently one of the most intelligent animals, yet they are eaten by a lot of people, so eating pork should be as acceptable as dog or cat.
Possibly some people may see not eating pets as wasting food.
But I do feel eating dogs, cats, etc. is wrong, especially if they were someone's pet.

Eating rabbit seems no big deal, you can keep those as pets.
Saying you can't eat certain animals because it is wrong while eating a steak is just plain hypocrisy.
It's different when you say not to eat certain animals because they are nearing extinction or taste plain disgusting, then fine. Vegitarians can always say it's wrong, they have it so easy.
Morally, there is no distinction between a cow or a dog. Though if you keep going with that thought then maybe eating humans is no big deal either, since we're all animals anyway.
I wonder what a human tastes like, apparently very much like pork.
I bet human would go great with a nice sauvignon.

Then you have surrendered to the Devil
And must surely perish. - J.W. von Goethe

If its not my pet, then I don't really care. (Although eating any of these things sounds gross. I'll stick to beef, thanks)

Not really
The only reason we have pets is because they provide something we miss.
If there is nothing to eat, then they will provide meat.
Is simple.
If you eat your own pet, then there is a moral area, because you are eating the pet, and what the pet reprecents.
Same with humans, you eat the meat and what the meat reprecents, and the one that gets you jailed is what the meat reprecents, no its nutricional value.

Yeah, it's wrong to eat your own pets. Because they think of you as family (if you've had them for a while) and it'd be like a betrayal to be eaten by the people they trust. Anyone that's had pets for a long time can tell you that they DO bond with you, and it's wrong to kill someone you've bonded with, d'oh.
But if it's livestock that's brought up for that purpose, it's ok to eat them - at least it isn't betrayal. An animal RAISED as a pet shouldn't be eaten by humans; only if it's raised as livestock.
I still don't think meat-eating as a whole is completely morally all right, and I'm a vegetarian myself. But I don't think it's heinous or evil to eat meat in general... However, eating a pet who loves YOU is definitely heinous and evil. o_0; You'd have to be seriously a freaky person to consider it.
