If you knew how to read, you'd know that the bigger picture is that MF pretends to be cooperative and their alter ego MangaHere goes around and does the complete opposite and doesn't respect anyone. They're the same identity! This is just pure hypocrisy. Whether MangaFox is good or not is daunted by the fact that they're just putting on a facade and are lying to everyone.

Look at it this way, it's like the President saying that troops are leaving Iraq yet in the shadows sending troops to do operations in secret without telling anyone, going against their previously stated policy to do what they wouldn't be allowed to do publicly.

Amen! I can't stand fans who all they care about is weather or not they can read manga. They don't give a shit about the work that goes into it or where they read. I've checked out some of the forums on MF about the series I do. It's all "Whens the next chapterrr out!1 I cant waaaaait!!1! waaaaah" and then they come about and demand we work faster. Between the fans and reader sites like this, It's a surprised more groups haven't just given up already. It's getting to the point where it isn't worth it anymore.

As long as Mangafox exists, plenty of people will continue to use it (because it's convenient in so many ways and is sometimes the only way to read manga from scan groups that require you to become a member and have like...10 posts in their forums just to download a single release) I hadn't even heard of Mangahere before today

And yeah, I read most of my manga online too. Anyone would if it took their damn slow internet connection 1 hour to download a 30 MB file 😐

Nope I don't need people telling me they love me to make me keep scanlating but it does help motivate you on long series, also mf cuts down on traffic and possible recruits that you could get to help your group keep going.

MF has made people lazy and unappreciative. You can't go one day without someone on manga fox saying why isn't something fully done even though its fully released in japan. Its made the reader ignorant to how stuff gets translated.

I'll use ad block and no script on mangafox and their ilks when I read manga on their sites so the ads agency will refuse to pay them cause I'm not actually looking at their ads on the sites anyway. I'll also customize my ad block to block anything that I think are ads.

If everyone does that... do you think they will get any money?

thanks for bringing this to my attention because i honestly had no clue how these manga reader sites worked. but in the end, it doesn't really matter. it's not going to change my reading habits. I'll go to mangafox to read there because I like the website. If mangafox doesn't have the manga I want to read and mangahere does, then I'll go there. In the end, everybody's kind of in the wrong. Scanlations are illegal from the start. Sure, you can try to justify it and say that it's because the manga isn't available in English that we need scanlations. But really, do you think that if the manga publishers actually got serious and started coming after the people who take their work, translate it, and put it on the Internet for free, that that kind of logic would stand up in court? At the end of the day, the only people who have a right to complain are the mangaka and the publishers who are losing revenue that they legitimately have the right to. I'm not saying that the practices of mangafox and mangahere are okay, but I don't agree with the people who say those websites should be taken down. That is only going to lessen the access people have to manga and make things more inconvenient.

Yeps it's illegal... and the scanlators doesn't claim the manga itself. it belongs to author and mangaka. and psssh as long as I know, the scanlators doesn't make any money (by explicit or implicit).

Well, I've never actually heard of mangahere before until now, and having a look at it, it's got the exactly same layout as mangafox, which doesn't seem to be a coincidence now we know their owner is the same.

Thing with mangafox is those situations where they "sometimes" follow the scanlators uploading rules are the moderators trying to make sure they happen. It's the Admins and Noez who are the assholes who override the rules we've laid down, especially with the whole mangastream problem. Noez just completely ignored the fact that they didn't want their scans on mangafox and uploaded them every week, and the mods were powerless against it and had to deal with all the rage. It's well known fact that Noez is a complete asshole. I'm not actually surprised about this.

If you are so sociopathic that you can't make this tiny change for the sake of preserving this community, then at least do it for your own selfish reasons. Because if things don't change, many scanlators will start quitting (one translator has already quit over Mangafox just recently, and left a dozen series hanging) because the purpose of scanlation is not to maintain Jacky Yung's lifestyle. You're gonna whine, but no one will listen to you. Or you will have to jump through ever more hoops to get your manga and deal with ever more watermarks. You already whine about that, but no one listens to you.

I knew about the scanlations being illegal, I didn't know about mangafox and mangahere making profits off of hosting scanlations. Nor that they weren't being fair to the scanlators

Thanks for informing me of this site, but I go where the manga is. If mangafox has a manga that batoto doesn't have then I'd rather read the manga at mangafox than just not read it.
