What does Monthly manga mean here...? How are the rankings decided?

Based on record activity.. so the records in our database that get the most activity are the ones that are the top 10 or what have you. The top monthly series are those which ranked top 10 overall out of all the series for activity over the previous month. Maybe I should add some text somewhere to clarify that?

Yeah...You should...shinwei, you're not the first to wonder about that.
We're also working on a stats thing for the most popular manga of all time (since the manga side of B-U was founded)...

Yea I know. I find it hard to believe too. But it gets by FAR the most activity in our DB. Nothing comes close.

Well the next update is in 2 days, so... let's just wait and see.
[edit] I should mention also that those are monthly stats. For all time stats it's a different picture. So keep in mind that these stats can even change based on how many chapters etc from a series are released as more people will click on that series on the releases page [/edit]

Seriously the only thing that made me read Air Gear was that it was the first on the ranking in here... But after reading all what was available... I think I probably shouldn't have bothered...

word, brutha (sista?). and thats not just a fan raving. One Piece is the biggest, popular series in japan, surpassing DBZ and Naruto. add in its popularity from other countries, and you got yourself the manga world's masterpiece.

Well, I don't know if it'll ever be more popular than DBZ in Japan, but it's close.
It's the biggest thing in Japan right now, though. It is the second coming of DBZ.

i think it may be bigger. Not only is it in the subways, on the streets, on big billboards, on television, in the theaters, in every shop in town, etc. but it has its own scale size ship with the characters to match in odaiba bay. One Piece is a monster like none other.
