I want a yaoi that will make me go awww. I've hardly read ANY yaoi yet ever, so I'm looking for a starter yaoi? IIf any of that makes sense 🙂

Yamete Kudasai, Mabushii Desu - Cute, super sweet shounen-ai that works if you're just getting into BL.

Kurayami ni Strobe - It's a little bit more serious than your typical aww type story, but they have some really adorable moments. It's personally one of my favorite shounen-ai.

For a starter shounen ai ... maybe Higouhou Junai

For actual yaoi that I believe is sweet and has less smutty scenes (I believe they are sweet, I can't fully remember)

I think he/she being a newbie into the world of "yaoi" probably meant it in it's most general classification, probably just Boy's Love or a romance involving two males. From what I've read/been told, yaoi and shounen-ai are terms that are no longer utilized by BL readers in Japan. It's when you get to the reading community outside of Japan that these terms have any relevance. I've personally taken to using BL myself, but for many readers, yaoi and shounen-ai are too ingrained in fujoshi/fudanshi culture to be eliminated. A lot of that can probably be blamed on the fact that none of us speak/read Japanese and therefore can't inherently understand why there's no separate categories for sex/no sex in BL. And yah, sorry to be long winded, just figured I'd throw in my two cents 😉

I think OP is looking for a gateway story into BL, so he/she isn't looking to take a full on dive into the hardcore sex...yet. lol.
