If there is a title out there, there is SOMEONE willing to obtain it. Heck, I'm sure somewhere in america you can find a person willing to call themselves the greatest otaku just for the fame and to be called "greatest" of something. After all, the guiness book of world records is filled with those exact kinds of people.

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

or they're like me and have anime running on their ipod, while they dl more at home. besides, it seems they are crashing anime conventions across america to find them there, so they'll probably look for crazy but accurate cosplay and fanatical behavior.

Is somebody messing around? Is this a joke? There is a show trying to find the greatest otaku? Really?? I am at the same time speechless and laughing XD
When these people go to the conventions and find fat guys dressed up as girls, and people walking around the convention dressed as Jesus (yes, I actually saw somebody who did this) I will laugh at the expressions on their face.

they should just rename the show "America's Greatest Looser" . I mean come on......But hey i bet who ever wins this won't be a Otaku for long cuz after being on TV he will probably get laid for the 1st time in his life and also cause him to go out side more. I mean if these guys had the chance to go out with friends and girls and party im 100% sure that they would pick that over sitting in there room being miserable and escaping out of reality. And being on TV would fix all this
