Most annoying "I'm Looking For" problem

Actually, I was looking for a specific type of manga yesterday and tried using the forum search for the first time. I didn't know that you couldn't specify which forum to search and it took me forever to look through all the results.
^ actually, you can search separate forums.
Just, enter a forum section, and then scroll down below and type what you're looking for.
Only disadvantage is that it displays both the thread titles and the regular posts.

Requests that are too general and broad.
God, just how many topics do I have to see asking for the same thing?
FUNNY ROMANCE SCHOOL MANGA SHOUJO PL0X.
LIEK LIEK ..
VAMPIRE KNIGHT!
I wouldn't even reply because I don't like suggesting manga of such low standard. 😔

A combo!
"Requests that are too general or broad" and
"Suggesters always suggesting the same mangas for every request."
If I know some titles that matches the criteria, I'll help the asker in anyway, but sometimes they ask for something that can be.. anything!
Like if they want a shoujo manga with a guy who acts cold, but turns out to be sweet. The list of those mangas would go on and on!
And alllllll those requests for mangas like (inserts title here.) Man.. XD

Mhmm, I guess something like, "Can you recommend something that is like x?" First, what is x? You can't even do a math question with just that. Give us an equation first. 🤣
Annnd what everyone said about the site tools. We even have a "Tips For Searchers" thread pinned in there. : D If you're a newbie, that's fine, but when you've been here for a while...

I usually don't look at the "I'm looking for" posts. However, when I do look at a request that seems like I could help with, the ones I hate are the ones that request the most specific things. I realize that I am probably alone on this one, but I can't help it.
For some reason, I get pissed off every time I see: "I am looking for a story with a left-handed, virgo with type A negative blood, who plays the bass. He and his friends are looking for a drummer/backup singer who plays a premier set with Paiste cymbals. I really want the love interest to be his childhood friend who moved away years ago, but just moved back and turns up for the drummer auditions. I really want her to be about 157cm tall and she should be a tsundere. Oh and it would be great if the lead guitarist was the main guy's gay friend who is in love with him, but the main is oblivious to it. I don't want any ecchi or loli (people always throw that in for some reason). I was hoping for a shoujo, but I guess yaoi would be ok. And, I would love if it was around 30 chapters. Thanks a lot for your help."
Yes it is all an exaggeration, but I hate those requests. Just ask for a good romantic comedy or something. The more general the request, the more manga to read....that's a good thing right? Thank you all for reading me venting my frustrations.

with my threads, I've always gotten the replies I've needed. But something I've noticed in other threads that pushes my buttons is when someone asks for manga, and people suggest manga that hasn't be licensed or scanlated at all. I mean seriously, I'd like to know the point to doing this.

One thing that bothers me is when a request is specific, but the requester doesn't list what they've already read. I think responders then usually list the best or most well-known manga on the topic. Then the feedback is "Thanks, but I've already read that." If they'd said so to start with, they might have gotten a broader response.
Another one that kind of annoys me is when the requester has already read hundreds of manga. I want to tell them that they should be doing the suggesting instead of the asking.

This! If people are suggesting unlicensed/unscanlated manga, I wish they would at least make a note of that in their post. I started making my own wish list of manga that aren't translated, but stopped after a while. Why make a list of these great-sounding stories when I probably won't get the chance to even start them? Really, what is the point of suggesting untranslated manga?
I admit I'm guilty of a couple of the offenses - made a repeat topic, and didn't say thank you. But I'm better now, and I mostly recommend instead of request anyway.

this stuff is really annoying to u guys?
wow
well get off the website if it is..
i guess if i were to pick it would be one of my very own.
i remember one time i posted an "im looking for" thread about anything, and i was asking people to just post anything they think i should read without giving them a single description of what i liked, i honestly did it out of boredom and found the people responses to be funny..
i dont think i even read any of the suggestions.. hahahahaaha
why because i am the president of the student council of course

I don't get annoyed by any of these but if I had to choose, it would be the "feedback" option. You should express your appreciation >:-(

Yes, yes and YES!
I know some people who do that coughakaricough 😛 Basically, you're just listing for the sake of listing, really. I mean, that "classics adaptations" thread is FULL with unscanlated/unlicensed manga. They just search "adaptation" or whatever in the search function, and then share everything they find. O_O
Oh, and another thing comes to mind, when people suggest BL to a person who doesn't even remotely ask for it in the OP. 🤨 Something like, "and if you don't mind BL, you can try out this one. ^__^". It's funny when the OP is a guy, and when his lists are very ecchi-centric.

I'm going for the first one, because the sheer volume of threads is huge, and most of them are repeats anyway.
I see people posting links to other threads because they're asking for similar or pretty much the same thing.
And I hate it when the 5 threads on the news page are all from "I'm looking for". If I could disable them from showing themselves, I would 🤣
I don't often give many recommendations, mainly because my knowledge of manga's isn't wide, so things like not getting feedback doesn't bother me. Although I can see why it bothers other people.
I personally like using the genre search to find new manga. I've picked up a few from the recommendations people give as well, especially when the OP is interested in the type of stuff I read. Saves me from having to create a new thread asking for recommendations eh? 🙄
