Most annoying "I'm Looking For" problem

I do agree that people should mention that the manga they're suggesting are not translated. Having said that, there's plenty of reasons to give those suggestions: one, some people can actually read Japanese. Two, some of those manga may be translated to other languages. Three, you can add those to your lists in case some group picks them up later. Four, one group might actually pick up that series precisely because they heard about it in that thread.

with my threads, I've always gotten the replies I've needed. But something I've noticed in other threads that pushes my buttons is when someone asks for manga, and people suggest manga that hasn't be licensed or scanlated at all. I mean seriously, I'd like to know the point to doing this.
Yes, yes and YES!
I know some people who do that coughakaricough 😛 Basically, you're just listing for the sake of listing, really. I mean, that "classics adaptations" thread is FULL with unscanlated/unlicensed manga. They just search "adaptation" or whatever in the search function, and then share everything they find. O_O
Oh, and another thing comes to mind, when people suggest BL to a person who doesn't even remotely ask for it in the OP. 🤨 Something like, "and if you don't mind BL, you can try out this one. ^__^". It's funny when the OP is a guy, and when his lists are very ecchi-centric.
Well, sometimes I want to cover all the bases, like...
Letting the person know there's this and that manga for future reference even if it's only available in the original language for now.
About the second one, I try not to but the urge to tease is sometimes too strong. :3
Besides, not everybody says "no yaoi" and sometimes there's no gender specified.
How should I know? I just came here with innocent suggestions.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Well, it's about time!
The most annoying "I'm Looking For" problem?
Let me just quote myself from the Forum thread filter thread.
Quote from Scyfon
...
It's that time of the year now and it is literally clogged up with Yaoi related/request threads...more than usual.
It means I have to suffer just that much more because of either people with a bad memory or people who are just plain lazy.
...
The percentage of yaoi/bl "looking for" threads currently stands at ~12% of the total amount in the section
(feels more like 98.984984191% though)
A lot of these are:
"I forgot the name/title...",
"I forgot...but it had ..."
I mean, yeah, I know what the section is for... but come on!.
At least read the damn title of the thing you're about to read first - not stare at the cover and think "Ooooh~ looks hot!", begin to read it, satisfy your excitement quota, drop it....
then ask around to see if anyone actually bothered to to read and remember the title/name just so you can repeat the process -_-;;
It's either this, or there's a lot of people with bad memory here.

It's so true though, there are so many of those.
Sometimes, really generic requests are annoying, like "I need a sports manga." Or the really specific ones, like "... a girl that goes through a break-up and then she moves to Antarctica where she lived in an igloo with a penguin for 3 months & 8 days, but then she moves back home just to get a haircut. Are there any mangas like that out there?" Obviously exaggerated, but yeah...

LOL!
Or like the one time when there were a series of threads specifically asking for "manga with detailed penises" 🤣

I agree when people don't list what they've already read when their lists are private so I have no idea what manga they enjoy or if they've read my suggestions so end up suggesting everything I can think of.
I also get annoyed when people sugggest manga to me I've already read when all my lists are public. I appreciate the suggestions but I have them public for a reason and don't like continually saying 'Thanks but I've read that' since it seems like I don't appreciate the help.
I also agree that sometimes too specific a request can be as irritating as a overly vague one.
@Doc - i'm with Nightswan on this one, if the requester doesn't specifically state which genres they don't like then they get everyand any genre if the suggestion fits.
The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.

Annnd now that I think about it, I really don't like it when people say "Oh. I already read that!! >:-( " when their lists aren't even public. : ( Or at least mention what they've read that has the criteria of what they're looking for.

- No Feedback, this is important, especially when someone's looking for a specific manga title, they should reply 'that's the one, thanks' something like that. Although I mostly think this is because they aren't on their comp for a while or busy doing something else on the internet, but if a few days go by....well, then they weren't really that desperate for it I guess or don't even care.
2)manga that can be easily found. Such as 'I'm looking for a romance shoujo' so damn easy.
I rarely create i'm looking fors unless i'm uber desperate/have really stretched far and wide for it.

I find the " I'm Looking For..." section very useful.
There is no better way to broaden your manga-horizon than lurking around in this section and benefiting from other people's knowledge and taste. Especially if you yourself have no specific expectations or wishes.
Thanks to all those readers who's recommendations I enjoyed!
And sure, some things are enerving:
I second the "not-scanlated" recommendations. It is almost like playing hot and cold...not fair.
Asking for ridiculous details or giving no specifications -> seconded as well.
What I dislike most is giving no specifications at all when naming the thread!
This is difficult for lurkers and helpers alike, since both have to enter the thread and read the first post before knowing if it concerns them at all.
"Big dick" or "lots of fluid"-requests are funny and I really marvel at the bravery displayed. This is what we are here for! If you cannot even satisfy your desires on the anonym web, you can't do it anywhere. Kudos!

I myself sometimes post st in "I'm looking for" when i was bored. Because my favourite mangas are always on the top of my head so always suggesting the same mangas for every request. Sometimes, I feel like I'm advertising mangas I like instead of helping them find the mangas they might want, so I quit. That's my case, so I choose "Suggesters always suggesting the same mangas for every request."

I don't really like it when OPs ask for suggestions but reply with "Oh, I've read that already." So, I think the worst problem right now is OPs that don't make their lists public.

@"Oh, I've read that already." problem
Someone else may be also interested in that request.
