I forget the exact name of them, but Sony has these headphones at Wal-Mart for $20, and they have surprisingly good sound quality. When I was watching a movie on my laptop, it sounded like I was at the movie theater.

these. best sound for the price. Bar none. One caveat they tend to break faster than a lays potato chip in a bag of hammers. But then Koss does also have its lifetime warranty, so for about $6 they can fix or replace them
JVC Flats aren't bad either

headphones can last you years, my dad had a 20 year old pair, he needed to get parts for the ear parts, but damn, was it still good.
i have to suggest Sennheiser HD555
they are around 100$ and are probably the best you can get before an external amplifier is necessary
they are so light and comfortable i forget that i'm wearing them all the time
i honestly cant say 1 bad thing about them, they are probably the best investment that you can make audio wise.
to put it another way, i have had over 20 headphones, and 5 speakers, all of varying quality, the best i had was a philips noise canceling headphone, they lasted 6 months and were 60$, the headphone to volume controle was so thing the wires inside it broke.
the Sennheiser HD555 is easily the best i have EVER heard. if you think 100$ is a bit much, you can go the Sennheiser HD515, i didn't use them long but they had great sound quality, i believe that they are also the best at that price.
these are both full can headphones, i love them big so they never touch my ears. and they dont.

In the presence of good company, it is good to keep your composure before going all crazy on them.

never go bose,
they over charge for there headphones and damn near everything else. the only reason the headphones are ok is because the mess with the sound so it appears better. its hard to explain because i dont know the terms... but between the Sennheiser hd555 and bose of equivalent price the Sennheiser hd555 kick bose ass.
however if how you look matters to you, it would be easier for you to go outside with bose dj's than Sennheiser's

Not for me. There's some extra padding on the earpieces so they don't feel tight and uncomfortable when I use them.

I use either Shure or Seinnheiser. Comparatively, Bose does not compete with the higher end brands/models. I suppose they're a good starting point if you want entry level gear. Klipsch is also pretty decent.
