No, he's right. Tite Kubo does seem to have some titles that use less than perfect English grammar.

The actual title of that chapter is "Four Arms to Killing You". On top of that there are chapters titled "Don't Believe The Hide", "Swang the Edge Down", and my favorite, "If You Call me Beast, Kill You Like Tempest"[/quote]

i don't get what you want. "Übel Blatt" is not as bad german, as you think. As someone said before, you can translate "übel" as evil/bad etc. and "Blatt" as blade. And by the way, I am a native german speaker, too. There were several other occasions, where I was more shocked about the reckless usage of german, without care for grammar or even sense - for example "Milch Holstein" from Nodame Cantabile or the rediculous spells from Tohsaka Rin from Fate/Stay Night

No, they aren't translated into English by the scanlators, Kubo uses a lot of English and Romanji in his manga. Even if they were translated I'm sure most scanlators would correct them.

I am German and can thus confirm Übel Blatt´s weak mastery of it. It´s about as bad as the one used in the Vampire filler arc from Bleach or Crono Crusade´s MUTIGER STIR! summoning cry. Don´t get me me started on the English in Negima.
The same things can be said about US comics as well. Nightcrawler for example uses bad German in X-men and Colossus uses even worse Russian. The moral is to not use a language you can´t speak yourself in a book/show or the native speakers will laugh at you.

I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

Nope "Übel Blatt" is definitely a terrible term besides grammatically correct it would be "Übles Blatt". Well and since we use "Blatt" as a countig word for paper I simply don't know what to think about that and don't come with "Sägeblatt" now : D. The Title would be perfect with "Üble Klinge", wouldn't even sound bad in german.
But you are right with Fate Stay, I laughed so hard when Rin started reciting her spells.

For example "Das Schließen Vogelkäfig. Echo."
I would translate it into English like that
"The closure birdcage. Echo". I think the "Echo" was meant to seal the spell or something. Or another one:
"Stil, schießt beschießen Erschießung" you can tranlaste it crudely into
"Style (?), to shoot, to fire at, shooting".
Since the pronunciation is really bad of the voice actress I can hardly understand the spells sometimes.

Oh come on, how many German native Speaker do even know of existence of the "Genetiv". 😀 But you are still right. 😉

Although the is a part of the sword which is called "Blatt", "Klinge" would make much more sense and would sound better. The cause is that very, very few German would understand "Blatt" as a part of the sword, because it isn't used anymore. Whereas "Klinge" is widely know because it means knive as well as blade.

This actually reminds me of the Black Lagoon anime, whenever they use an English term it comes out in Engrish which is quite funny since through most of the show they're supposed to speaking English, a good bit of the cast are native English speakers. 🤣

This reminds me of a few anime's that uses english..
anyone know the english only(!) dude from regios..can't believe they actually make him do that -_-;

and the "fullmetal alchemist" phrase that they put in everytime an ad comes up really gives me the creep =_= (FMA2)
