It's not that frequent in manga, while you might find airplane related manga like Alto and Kabu no Isaki, they aren't exactly about air battles.

There are some anime like Allison to Lilia or Last Exile that are more close to what you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply, but what they want is not really the same. I'm leaning more towards fighter planes and the like, not just being able to fly.
