British sitcoms tend to capture our humour very well, especially the older ones like Fawlty Towers and Blackadder
You, my friend, are a good person.
All hail Baldrick!!Hail Baldrick!
once apon a time there was a happy little sausage, who's name was baldrick, he lived happily ever after.
the end
Personally I love Blackadder but he wouldn't have been the same without Baldrick. I love that episode 'I believe he forgot to put sausage in his dictionary' lol. Gotta love 'I have a cunning plan!'.
Blackadder: Morris dancing is the most fatuous, tenth-rate entertainment ever devised by man. Forty effeminate blacksmiths waving bits of cloth they've just wiped their noses on. How it's still going on in this day and age I'll never know.
Blackadder: Bloody explorers, ponce off to Mumbo Jumbo land, come home with a tropical disease, a suntan and a bag of brown lumpy things, and Bob's your uncle, everyone's got a picture of them in lavatory.
Nursie: 'Ointment. That's what you need when your head's been cut off. That's what I gave your sister Mary when they done her. 'There, there,' I said. 'You'll soon grow an new one.''
EDIT: Not a fan of the Might Boosh nor of Little Britain. I was disappointed with Peter Kay's spoof reality talent show, not as funny as Pheonix nights or Max and Paddy.

I'm not sure, Japanese one only know by some stuff I read in manga, and other than that, I don't really know much about the other ones in the poll. 🤣

Hmm, I don't really know.
I don't care for culture, I care for people.
People represent their cultures so if you care about people you should also start caring for their cultures. Some people might get pretty pissed of for some kind of your actions, or you could simply get into trouble by not knowing smth about other cultures, like not drinking alcohol and going to russian weding.

I agree RexIX. I get offended when people make assumptions about England, though mostly I just see the funny side and correct them but nationality links to a lot of people's sense of idenity so they can get pretty defensive and easily offended which is why I like to try a learn about other cultures. Even the most simple and innocent acts can seem terribly rude to others depending on where you're from.
75% Hispanic, that must be interesting. I've never been the minority in school. I went to Christian Primary school and Church of England Christian High School and a Catholic College. Even at university most people are English on my course though my two best friends from my course, one is Dutch and the other half dutch but raised in England.

My school was pretty much exactly like that, except the remaining 20% was black, and 5% white.

If you hate being stereotyped...try being American. I swear, most of the world (those I've talked to) seem to think all Americans are either gun-toting bible-thumping warhawks or sissy liberal types. I happen to be neither (I like war though...good money to be made, if you've the right skills 😉 . For some reason, a vast majority of the world seems to hate our goverment too (I like it.)
And Brits...don't even get me started. Just...study some of the history, even the recent bits, between Britain and America, and you will see just how forgiving we tend to be 😀

For me is it's got to be the Japanese culture.
And this isn't really based only on anime and manga.
Before I moved here to the OC 4 months ago, I lived in Guam.
The economy is supported by tourism and most were Japanese.
So I got to meet and interact with alot of Japanese people.
Also in my school, I was part of the Japanese club for 3 years and I have taken Japanese for 2 years, not because of manga and anime but because I wanted to meet some beautiful Japanese girls. Hehe.
I only started getting into manga and anime once I moved here in the OC.
But about twice a year, about 200 Japanese HS students come to our school to experience our and their cultures.
There was also one time when we got about 30 or so college students from Japan to come to our class.
In all, I participated in about 8 or 9 exchange student programs.
So I say that I can relate more to Japan's culture better than my Filipino culture, I bet. hehe.
Or maybe not.
Who knows? ^_^

its really one sided question, considering the fact everyone in this site is a manga reader... theyll most likely vote either japanese or american....
though the only thing anyone knows mostly about japan is anime and manga...
This is kinda my point. Does the fact you read manga or watch anime reallly give you a deep understanding of the Japanese culture, or do the American tv shows that make it to international tv really represent America. As stated America is probably labelled with more false sterotypes than most other coutries because of shows that deliberatly show the extremists. It would help if we had someone from Japan to put right any wrongs in manga, though I suppose the wrongs depend on what manga you read. But I really just wanted to know if media gives people the impression they know a country and if said media is representative of the country. It's too complicated an issue to be resolved in a single thread but I was interested enough to at least scratch the surface and get people talking. I'm expecting either Japanese or American to win.

I can't remember but is most american beers watered down? Apparently some americans think we're fighting a war over here i remember one saying to me "the war must be tough for you over there" in reference to ireland and the IRA. And its also true that some people think that everyone over here is like Hugh Grant and all live in castles.

I've never really studied the culture of places, so I don't know much about any of them. Besides, culture is something I'd rather experience than study, I think.

i studied a lot into the ancient egyptian, as they were so very fascinating...roman & greek were also interesting to me, especially for their myths and traditions and entities...american isn't any close to my heritage, so i guess it'll count...
not so sure about japanese though...even through all the manga i've read, i still am unconvinced about the % of truth of each tradition and event demonstrated...
