You're right really, though he once had his moments. Ichigo looked awesome taking out the three lieutenants after saving Rukia. And Byakuya seems to always come out looking pretty cool.

My real problem with this whole arc is that all the enemies seem to be created to fight who they fight. Szayel fought Mayuri (Mad Scientist battle). Nnoitra fought Kenpachi ("Can't Be Cut" Battle). Zomari fought Byakuya (50 versus a billion). Halibel fights Hitsugaya (water v. ice). Stark fights Kyoraku (lazy guy battle). Even that Poww fraccion fought Komamura (Giant Battle).

It's actually pretty sickening that Barragan-Soi Fon is the only battle that was unpredictable from the very first time you saw the Espada. And I'm still thinking she might need help from Yamamoto, who is the most likely candidate for that battle (Old Guy fight).
