But, I would have voted it doesn't matter to me. Some plots do well with romance, others suffer tremendously, which is when I stop reading them.
If it's a shounen, I'd rather it be more focused on the action and such. But sometimes roance makes me more excited. For example: Naruto for me. silly me

Anyways, as for shoujo, sometimes I don't like reading shoujo because there's too much romance. I would rather it be left out completely except for minor character couples that have nothing to do with the main character really. Example: Natsume Yuujinchou.

Too much is overkill. And none at all I can totally live with. 😃

Every manga I read has romance, and if the manga is so great even without romance I'll still read it. That means It doesn't matter to me (sometimes) but I still voted for "All series need at least some romance!" 😛

Well, there has to be some sort of romance, sort as a developer or as a comic relief...because, some manga get a bit too serious, so there should be some sort of divergence from that super serious topic...and then as a developer, which helps the character to realize some sort of truth 🙂 )

I read mostly romance and yaoi, and if I'm reading something that doesn't have a romance as the main story, I still like to have it running in the background. Something like Tokyo Crazy Paradise is a good blend for me, because the relationship is important, but a lot of other things are going on as well.

I agree with Brucie_kun and Barisaxyphone that long series without romance don't feel realistic (hope I'm not misconstruing their words). You've got are all these wildly attractive people (Bleach captains, I'm talking to you) and no hankie-panky? 😲 I also agree with hobbitelf518 that few things can be more frustrating than a romance that is hinted at but never developed. Himegimi no Tsukurikata seemed like it was going to be at least a love triangle, but then backed away from all romantic complications.

If a story I'm enjoying doesn't have romance, I'll find it there myself coughslashcough.

I prefer series where romance is not the focus of the story, but I usually don't mind when its there. As long as it doesn't take away attention from the more interesting aspects, I'm fine.

Doing nothing is very hard to do. You never know when you're done.

Life is not romance but it definitely includes it or none of us would be here. Are there any test tube babies out there? Nearly all of the manga I read has some element of romance in it but I think I prefer the main character to be striving for something other than romance and the romance happen more or less naturally as a side issue. I like it when the main character happens upon a great romance while giving his/her all for a personal a goal. The romance doesn't have to happen in the first or second volume and I prefer it to develop as a result of the two working together and eventually not being able to ignore it.

For me, a great story usually has to have 3 elements: action/drama, humor (the 'everyday' humor that makes me laugh out loud, Noblesse is good at this), and romance. When all of my emotions are engaged not only do I not want to put it down, but I like to read it again and again.

well. romance definitely must be there, but it plot for the romance should be good or else it will ruin the whole story itself..
I do love romance manga but with those have a good plot, if not, it turns to be boring .

well depends on the plot,but i always prefer romance in small portions...as a subplot
i also love slow romance because when the romance is slow you tend to see more character development and the attraction feels more real.
