she wouldn't need to be an otaku, but it would help, it would be kind of hard to conceal my hobbies (being the otaku that i am) from a girlfriend, and ussualy people who don't read manga tend to look down on who reads... but then again, i already got a few friend addicted, tough thay are still in the bleach/naruto level 🤣

maybe..depend on the person..would be cool if she somewhat like nogizaka haruhi.

of course, they'd be able to understand me

When I say "uber nerdy" I mean someone who is so socially awkward that they can't keep up a conversation and aren't comfortable to be around. You can definitely be a sociable nerd. I love people with strange interests and obsessions because I have quite a few of them myself. I'm an otaku, a trekkie, a gamer, a bollywood freak, etc. I like people who are geeks because most likely we'll have SOMETHING to talk about.
