I am mecchist, i am an artist looking to learn about redrawing/cleaning.

Right now i have no idea what is expected to be removed, i also am unaware of terminology and probably other simple things, I am going to learn more about it first before joining a project though.

Hoping to meet friends and help with projects in the future.

If anyone wants to mentor me on the process, or just give some information/tips, i would appreciate it. Thanks!

In a nutshell, cleaning is getting rid of all the text inside the bubbles and the dust that sits on the page, making sure all the blacks are black and all the whites are white.
Redrawing is getting rid of the text that sits directly on the drawings themselves. You have to redraw the picture underneath so it looks like there was no text in the first place. Your life will be much easier with redraws if you have a graphics tablet.

The link to Senbonzakura will help. I taught myself off that website back in the day too.

Thanks for the kind words, reccomendations and info everyone.

After your explanation, i think cleaning sounded too mundane so i decided to focus on redrawing last night, as a trial i redrew 19 pages. I had to resolve missing screentones, screentone gradients, body parts, background art. It went well, i am used to manga studio 5 so it was easy (perhaps easier than if someone were to use photoshop!) i will see about helping out as a redrawer now.
