The biggest cliche that I get so sick of is when the guy is initially mean to the girl or doesn't like her and then he is suddenly smitten after actually getting to know her.

There's also the delinquent boy whose heart is warmed by some girl and he is finally able open up and overcome his troubled past.

If the story or characters are original or memorable than I can forgive all the shoujo cliches,or if there is some kind of unpredictable plot twist (that doesn't make the story ridiculous).

The shoujo cliche that I'm really tired of always appearing in the story is where the female lead usually end up with the cold guy which was initially mean to her while the carefree or soft guy ends just being happy for the couple. It's sometimes cute but when it really gets tiring, especially when it gets so expected in the story.

I don't doubt this one has been said, but I hate the cliche where the love triangle is completed when a "childhood friend" comes back into the picture. I just find it so cheap, like the mangaka couldn't find any better way to introduce conflict.

-main character gets the popular guy and gets bullied by her peers.

-main character has inferiority complex

-jerk ass bishounens that end up being nice guys.

not really cliches but they bother me the most:

-UNNECESSARY SHOUJO SPARKLE EFFECTS

-POINTY CHINS ON BISHOUNENS

The cliche about women always doing the cooking for the men and being good at it...

this one has probably been said but i hate it when the childhood friend shows up and they suddenly get together, with them basing their relationship entirely on the past without developing in the present-i like skip beat because they have a developing relationship with only one of them knowing they had a past and doing the best he can to keep their past a secret from her...plus all the ones godtier said.

_Girl falling for the guy cold guy that mean to her instead of a nice and soft guy.

_Girl fall for a cool guy at first sight - he ignore her - girl depressed - guy unconsciously fall for girl - guy chase girl - they are happy.

_Average girl got cool guy then being bullied by his fan club. (Like hell girls are that low )

the guy the girl falls for is (almost) always popular!

basically every single shoujo they girl snags a guy "out of her league"
usually with fangirls to fight off, or at least some jealousy
because he is just that good-looking 🤨

Wouldn't it be unique if the heroine actually noticed someone who was NOT the center of everyone's attention?! Otherwise it's like "well of course she'd fall for HIM" :/ booring...

Are all attractive guys automatically super popular? I mean, there are attractive guys who are not the center of everyone's attention...

girl left alone in town/wandering streets alone/boyfriend left to get some ice-cream/standing at a meeting place always always always gets a group of boys 2-4 asking her 'hey, you wanna hang out? you're cute', 'you wanna get together with me and my friends?'
I have had it up to here with this one! Every single shoujo from the top of my head has this and somehow the guys all look the same, hipster clothes, sunglasses, stubble, hands in pockets, grinning faces, sheesh.
And the love interest of said girl always comes at the right time and manages to make the guys scared of him/beat them up/walk away muttering.
They make Japan look like a rape zone for females. 🤢

The worst cliche is a 'average' girl who's super pretty, but her only flaw is she's really clumsy. The girl still manages to get the hot, popular clueless guy that took about 20 chapters for them to even realize they even have feelings for one another. Those cliches are everywhere.

bishounen boy who is always straight out rude to the heroine but deep down cares for her romantically, emotionally, physically.
I don't get why they have to be rude for no reason to the girl, the girl sometimes it's nice and friendly to him and the first thing he does is insult her, whether it's her 'boring' looks, 'babyish' ways, 'dumb' ideas, 'flat-chest'- Dengeki Daisy,Bambi no Tegami the two latest ones with this type of story-line, it unnerves me, I know for sure that I wouldn't EVER consider a guy who's bitchy to me all the time and then confesses to me claiming his 'bitchiness was done for a reason '
That's like an abusive relationship, 'me hitting you was done for a reason' 🤢

another one that's too predictable for me, super bishie prince of school is actually secretly mean and is putting up a nice front through some 'evil' motive, of course he eventually falls for the one who finds out he's actually evil aka heroine, he normally has 1 trust-worthy guy friend who knew about this 'dark' side all along.

this rule: if he's beautiful he's also smart, if he's ugly/plain looking then he's OBVIOUSLY also dumb. duh.

girls just don't fall for randomers, why can't a shoujo heroine fall in love with some random dude in her class that she has never interacted with who isn't a secret bishie when he takes the glasses and wig off, I wanna see normal dudes every now and then, that's why I can appreciate Monkey High, heroine falls for the ugly boy rather than the bishie.

Heroine always feels like a misfit because her friends are so experienced coz they held a boy's hand like omg that's sooooooooooooooo explicit, and the moment they show this worry that's when the hero enters the chapter.

Heroine having the worst luck in life and a rich bishie saves the day, sadly he's a total jerk-ass too.

Bishies are only good to look at, just don't read what they say because there's too much disappointment waiting, appreciate the art - this is my philosophy on bishounen.

The stuff you're reading is rather clean then, 'cause in the stuff I've read it sometimes seems like the heroine's the only virgin in the school.

The cliche about women always doing the cooking for the men and being good at it...

Unless it's one of those shoujos where the girl is an ultra-tomboy and therefore is incapable of cooking anything remotely edible.

A girl bumps into a very random guy in some quirky way in a first chapter and then they are in the same class or something like that.

Well I can't think of the worst cliche
everything in a shoujo is a cliche so its kinds hard to decide which is the worst

Attractive, slutty, popular guy takes an inexplicable liking to inconspicuous girl.

Transpose "guy" and "girl", negate "slutty", and now you've got a shounen cliche.
