Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM IN THIS STORY
EXACTLY! The story is FILLED with cliches.
I mean, I don't mind cliches, really--if it's done in a good way, then it's fun to read.
But this story had SO many cliches and it REALLY got on my nerves! Especially the main character. Bleh.
I dunno if these would be considered spoilers or not, but just in case...
-the girl is considered ugly when she's decent
-the girl had a super pretty sister who's in love with the main male lead--love triangle
-the girl fell in love with the guy in the second chapter or so for, like, no apparent reason (even when he treats her badly)
-the girl's best friend was in love with the main male lead--love triangle
-the guy had a "tragic" past that led to a huge plot twist
-LOVE TRIANGLES WITH "PRETTY" RIVAL BUT THE MAIN GIRL IS WAY PRETTIER! That's like the third love triangle, seriously. There are plenty of other guys out there!
-Transformation into a pretty girl for a date
and so many others! o_o'

Also, it's too common to see the protagonist have a love rivalry with another girl. After the other girl gets rejected, the protagonist and the girl become best friends.

I'm not very fond of the cliche where the guy is a complete jerk, she does nothing... and sometimes even rapes her... then, at the end, they're SO happy. I mean, I read shoujo and can see at times how they forgive them... but in some manga the guy abuses her and she willingly go back to him.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.

I really can't stand this type of shoujo manga. At all. x__X
I dislike weak girls in situation like those...see, if the girl doesn't do anything even when he's a jerk, I consider her weak. Bleh.

I can handle a lot of cliche. I really dislike it sure, and it does sully the quality of the work, but there is one cliche that makes me want to burn it with fire and stab it and grill it and then feed it to lions.
That is the awful cliche of having useless characters swoon over the love interest with (or without) the main girl.
This is terrible, does nothing to move the plot along. Series that have done this include:
Princess Tutu (though it is an anime, the protagonist's stupid useless friends won't shut up about how hot Fakir is. Yes we know he's hot. Do we need two annoying girls with little involvement in the story or the protagonist's love life to talk about him in that way?)
Dengeki Daisy (her classmates are too nosy about Kurosaki and how hot he is. Makes me want to kill them. Just leave those lines of dialogue to the main girl)
Ouran (sort of. The clients at the host club annoy me)

A girl getting drunk from one cup or even one sip of wine or beer. I even saw a manga once where the heroine got drunk because the chocolates had liqueur inside! Does anyone really have that low tolerance?

Lol yes this is awful! I read that manga where she ate the chocolate but I forget what it's called.
To me it's just a stupid excuse to make the heroine so drunk that the male lead will have to carry her home, take care of her, and she will say something stupid or act lovey dovey with him and forget it the next day.
Kind of like the stupid cliche of having the male lead watch over you because you're sick, or sleeping.

I think I'll go with the really obvious one here - the Hana Yori Dango cliche. You know the popular bad boy with the unpopular girl/the one who's different etc. I loved it in Hana Yori dango, but hated it everywhere else.

When there's a strong female lead who get's told by the love interest to remember that she's only a girl (in regard to dangerous situations) so she shouldn't handle everything on her own. happens all the time, and it is so predictable. BORING!!!!! and NOT romantic. just sexist. "physically weak" and "female" don't have to be synonymous. if the lead shouldn't handle situations by herself because she's weak, then her boyfriend could just say so, instead of saying it's 'cause she's a girl.
also when the girl falls in love with the cold/mean bishie who had a tough childhood and is actually a good person.

I don't mind cliches as long as the manga has atleast one or two things that aren'tt cliche. The only thing I get kinda bored with is the whole love at first sight thing and characters confessing right away. D:

oooo here's another one. When the girl "accidentally" falls on top of the hot guy. How does that even work? Are all the floors in these mangas covered in soap or something?

The most irritating cliche for me is when a guy -usually hot, cool, mysterious, blah, blah, blah- falls in love with the main girl for no reason. At all. Even worse is when the -usually air-headed- girl doesn't notice it and ends up breaking the guys heart. 😐
I also hate
- (reverse) harems -except for OHSHC the comedy makes up for it-
-when the girl takes the guys beating -whether verbally or physically- because he "loves" her. - the popular boy dates unpopular girl.
-crybaby girl -and in some cases, crybaby guy O.o
-accidental kisses. Ugh 🤢 - when either party has tragic/hariible past... Can't they just be normal? 😕
- love at first sight
- theres probably more that I forgot...
On another note, even though these stupid cliches make you want to stab a bitch, it's everywhere especially in shoujo/josei, although in josei it's handeled more maturely. The reason why its there is because that's what teenage girls want to read, in shoujo cases. They want to be able to be in the heroines shoes, to be able to get a hot yet sophisticated guy. I know this cuz I used to daydream about this kind of crap, me ending up with the hot male lead. Not anymore though cuz that's just unrealistic. As stated before, there are cliches even in a very original and sophisticated manga. The only difference is that it's handled well to the point where you don't even notice it.
... I don't even understand what I wrote...-facepalm-
"Those phases in our lives are just an illusion; we live one long play which we just cut up into acts. Changes will happen, but it won't really end until the final curtain falls"
