The games aren't all that, as a matter of fact they are lame.
Not everyone likes the same types of games. Just because it isn't the normal market doesn't mean it isn't a large market.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

I got my PS3 when the 60GB first came out - ya it was a little steep but i have never looked back - at the time the winner in the HD/BluRay war had not decided and the XBox 360 Pro had not come out either - it was a no brainer to get a BluRay AND an HD player in the same machine with built in WiFi and such
As to the backwards compatablilty - i have it on my PS3 and i can tell you it is hard playing them after going HD - it looks like i am staring through a dirty window and i have to squint to make out the background
I have barely touched any of my old games and i am in no hurry too - if it makes it easier to get it out there i guess it is a good thing - i would miss the extra USB Ports and the memeory card readers though on the Slim
( why wont they put a USB on the back 😕 )
anyways BluRay rocks and i probably spend more time on movies then games
to me the PS3 is still the all around best machine for the money always has been

why are you crying about backwards compatible, if it was such a simple thing.
people were to cheap to buy it when it was stocked full of features, now you cry when they lower price and cut backwards compatible.
what would you like for them to give you a free product, then maybe you would be happy.(for every system sold sony loses money)
Yeah, it's official: you're a Sony fanboy. 🤣
I didn't buy one because there were barely any good exclusive games on it (Most of the games that were good were also multi-platform, so I could also get it on the 360 or the Wii) and because of the fact that it was horrendously overpriced. And besides, the 360 and the Wii are both backwards compatible, and in this generation where consloes add things that other consoles have (Like the Wii and PS3 using the home function that the 360 had, the 360 and PS3 using personal avatars that the Wii had, the PS3 using a motion control feature in their controller that the Wii had, etc.) it puts the PS3 at a disadvantage when it doesn't have a feature that its' other two rivals have.
And who the hell would complain about a product getting a lower price?

The price cut, plus all the buzz about xbox 360's hardware defects, is going to push the sales of ps3 for sure. But there's been some hearsay that older 360 worked better/lasted longer than the later ones, so Sony better not repeat the same mistake with the new Slim. If all goes well, and Microsoft doesn't do something to improve the quality of its console's components, PS3 market might overcome 360's, and Sony may finally see more revenue coming through game sales royalties.
I still think that PS3's main objective was the adoption of Blu-ray, and since that's been won over, anything else would be added bonus 😀
