Did you attend your Prom

I went but it was really boring. Half of the senior class couldn't go because of their bad grades, or because of the rules for attending prom.
rule 1- you can't bring anyone over 19.
rule 2- you can't bring anyone outside of school.
rule 3- no red dresses (apparently red attracts gang members) which they told us a month before prom. <<
rule 4-you can't bring any lower class men.
rule 5- the most ridiculous one ever...no voting for prom king/queen the results are taken from putting everyone's name in a hat, whoever's name gets chosen is prom king/queen...>>
Because of the rules I couldn't bring my then-boyfriend who happened to be 22 and outside of school. So I was stuck with a fellow classmate who couldn't bring his date for the same reasons. And most of my friends weren't even there because they failed a class or two. Needless to say it was an uneventful prom. I had more fun in my Jr high prom and we were on a boat. 😐

Wow, you guys had really strict rules. That's a shame. Was it like "the" local prom that everyone wanted to attend, or just a principal with a stick up the wazoo?
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Wow those rules are whack. You can't bring underclass men but you girls are ok? No red? Absurd.
I'm really glad my Prom didn't have stupid rules like that.

I haven't gone yet as I am an introvert as one may call a person who does not socialize well with others. But in high school their are certain things that must be done, I do not wish to regret my life living in the past. To truly graduate I believe I have to go to Prom. Not just to clarify some feelings I have but also to resolve my first steps into what may be called maturity. I know this sounds lame but I think that its not about going or not. It is about whether you can live without it or not. If you can then its fine. However its better to not leave a question unanswered-- the results are not worth it. 😀
So yea I will go to Senior Prom next year. For many reasons of course including the above!

I went to my prom (although we call it a "formal" here in Australia). And I had a fabulous time. The food was great, the music was awesome, and we danced for hours and hours. I went all out with preparations leading up to the formal - I bought a dress, had my make-up and hair professionally done, and we rented a limo. We even had a picture taken by a professional photographer. 🤣
And I still remember the Monday after the formal when my friends and I brought our photos to school and showed them around. 😀
I would definitely urge people to go to their prom. Even if you'll an introvert. Go with your boy/girl or together with your friends and have a blast. It's easily the highlight of your senior year and it's one of the few times in your life where you can go all out on your outfit and appearance. Just don't leave your drink standing around.

My prom was full of problems. A few days before some guys broke a glass door of the school-building so the academic part was called off. We tried to convince some teachers to come to the informal one but they refused. And when the parents heard about this they decided not to have even the informal one. for three days all of us were trying to change things but only a handful of fathers decided to help. At the end we have a little prom held at a disco-bar. Someone decided for the one who wanted to give a speech, five people decided to give one and prepared them for that night, I gave the last one as nobody else wanted that place and there was some serious crying after it. The night wasn't so bad I got the chance to kiss almost eight girls that night (three with tongue included). Some of the guys were so drunk that they decided to sleep in the middle of the dance floor. They were filmed in all kind of shameful poses that are taped for all eternity.
The cat was here,
and left the building.

I went to so many proms when I was in high school I lost count. And to even some after I graduated. They can be fun, but totally overrated.

Wow, you're lucky you're a girl. I went to 2 and I spent so much money. Then again, I insisted on paying for everything (tickets, limo, afterparty, lunch) and I guess some guys don't do that. Still worth it though, but more than 2 would've had me completely broke.

I actually paid for everything.
But if I hadn't, I'm a cheap date - well, until it comes to feeding me. 🤣

Your date(s?) are the lucky ones then 🤣 Yeah, even though I bitched and moaned alot to my friends about being broke, I would have felt wrong not paying for everything.
I had something of a prom curse though. Both dates I took were friends, both wanted to be more later (maybe before too but I def didn't know it), and when I cut both of them off, both were decidedly less friendly afterwards. You would have thought that I'd have learned something from the first time 🙁
Nevr had a prom 😢
back in the day. i really hated it.

I don't plan on attending my prom. I hate crowded places.
