I went to prom. I hate dancing to the music they played (I'm sort of a metal head), I dislike large groups, most of my friends didn't go, and I hate all things formal and up scale . . . but all those bad things were cancelled out because I got to break up with my girlfriend. Maybe that shouldnt be the one and only reason I really enjoyed prom?

Edit: So I can maintain the illusion I'm not a total jerk let me assure you all that it was a mutual break up.

I didn't go to junior prom (because I didn't want to), but I went to senior prom. It's not like I really enjoyed it, but well, life is a sum total of all your experiences, so I thought, why not? XD

Yeah for the last years they have a party in formal dress wear, I take the term prom a bit wider then the US standard (last year high school kids thing)

Well, if you are talking about formals and dances, it's probably not a prom. Well, I guess you could call it prom. But I just never used the word prom outside the time zone of elementry school to end of high school. I'm surprised that you guys have the time to do that. People in my college usually start getting jobs and research positions by junior and senoir year. I mena we have graduation celebration and individual parties.....but that's about it. After that, everyone wither go to their new job or grad school or something...

The difference is we don't have a huge student loan to pay off so we can slack off a month or a year without a hassle (cost of a year is 500€ = ~700$) so we don't have to start working right away like in the US where you have a huge loan just to study. We're a lot more layed back at the end of our education, myself I'm think about doing another 3 years to do a master in Japanese (I'm currently getting my degree in computer science)
