Funny story, until this weekend I was planning on going. Mine's on the 25th, btw. But then a couple of the people I hang out with - as a result of what they've done lately, I'm not calling them "friends" - decided to put about forty people they've only gotten to know recently ahead of me in their list of priorities for table settings and stick me at a table where I didn't know a third of the people. Forget being friends with, I just don't know them. When I proceeded to complain about it and ask for a change so I'd be with people I actually know, I got yelled at.

My logic = prom is for hanging out with your friends. When you're not going to be sitting with most of them and get yelled at for complaining about it, there's really no point in going. Ergo, I'm no longer going to my prom.

Well, does it make you feel better that the part of the reason I didn't go was because that girl I liked (and still do), decided to not go to prom and go to a horse show instead ? (she rides horses competitively). At least you were prioritized below actual people. I was deemed less important than a horse.

I didn't go to the prom. I did tell my parents that's where I was going. I had way more fun driving around with some friends and going to some after parties than I would have at the school sponsored event.

Though I'm a junior right now, I did go crash senior prom last year my sophmore grade, attended the after party. And this year as a junior I did the same thing

I don't know if it's just me, but I always found those kind of wild parties to be degrading and too much of a hick.
