I have questions about the new Related Series categories. Let´s start with Adapted To.

Blue Lock linked to an unlicensed BL doujinshi today with that tag, which goes against the FAQ, before I removed it leading to this topic. What is this category for? What are any of the new ones for?

Alternate Version clashed with Alternate Story which is long established. Both say the same. The only thing this can lead to is both being used and no clear direction.

The 2 new Anthology categories clash with this rule:

What about oneshot collections or anthologies? If there exists a collection or anthology for many oneshots, then only that collection should have a series entry. The individual oneshots will not have their own series entries. https://www.mangaupdates.com/site/faq/7#item65

Main Story is already auto-created through the setting of the Side Story category. I don´t mind but also didn´t try if duplicates might be created. Someone should.

Other makes some sense, I guess. Like for art- or guidebooks?

Edit: Alternate Story is the original category so I switched the order in the post. See how even I became immensely confused despite using this site for 15 years? Every manga tells a story. An alternate "version" of that manga is automatically an alternate version of that story.

These were suggested by Nyxsha, and we went ahead and added them. It wouldn't be hard to remove them or replace them if we decide it was a bad idea. I suggest sending them a message to get more information on them.

I DM them with a link to this topic but the Adapted To category is already a disaster. Here are the BL doujinshi that MHA´s page linked to just today. Image if every single fanfiction porno Naruto has is linked from that manga´s entry. That´s where this is going.

Specifically for anthology, the use case was specifically for oneshots that end up in multiple anthologies

Full and Part of Anthology are inverses that override each other after a bit of experimentation. These I get after learning the multiple anthology issue. A rare issue but a known one.

Other too I get.

Now to the original and main problem. Adapted From needs to be a one-way street that doesn´t link back, as it was before. I for example added Adapted From MHA to Boku no Hero Academia dj - Juvenile and the fan work immediately showed on MHA´s entry. Every popular battle shounen entry will soon be choking in its own slash fiction or porn. And it breaks:

Note: Please do NOT add links to doujinshi series from the main series info page. There are simply TOO many series to list. Instead, go to each specific doujinshi page and place an "Adapted From" link to the main series.

Not sure if it is an actual issue or just the way it is supposed to work but, apparently if you post your reply to fast after pasting the title in the insert manga [m] link it automatically redirect/changes the link to a search result.

~4400 manga completed
~1700 ongoing...

That's how it's supposed to work. You got to give it a second or two to resolve.

Oh speaking of the [m] and [a] links, since they auto change into markup now, if you type it by hand, it'll often resolve into a different author instead of the one you want. For instance, trying to type Konno Kita as an author will just end up resolving into the author Konno.

This bug isn't about site update but how is that possible?

It technically shouldn't be. Not sure what's going on there. It's possible the code we have to combine categories doesn't work perfectly, so we'll have to look into that.

i got back to previous grips, now for some reason when i am on lists (which seem longer than previous versions) wheter i am on tab in firefox or usually not, list gets killed with faile to load (assuming ur have implemented unwanted cloud crap which is the error) has become rampant just like the click buttons/tabs on ur lists when u update ex" released chpt 19, shown ur up to date with chpt 17, click add +1, blinks or errors or flicnhes and doesnt update like its trying to do some sync slash wont update or accept without multi clicking till crap cloud or 3rd party accept the was 17 now will show 19 after multi fighting click button adding or subtracting the plus 1 button (unwanted firefox version 132 or 133. ?) windows 11 sadly...the click button on normal pages for series also doesnt work when updating the click buttons for plus 1 or minus 1, also why switch to plus 5 from plus 10? just adding to overall problem from site update

The list buttons should work like this:

1. When you click the volume or chapter to increment, it will wait a fraction of a second to see if you're going to push it again (about 1/4th of a second). If you click it rapidly, all of those clicks will be "queued".
2. Once 1/4th of a second goes by, it will attempt to perform an update. If it is successful, it will update the displayed volume/chapter numbers to the last successfully updated value.
3. If a failure occurs, it will update the displayed volume/chapter to the previous value before the update.

Is this not working at expected?

Also, I can add the +10 back if you want, to the left of the +5.

As for the site update, we have to move forward. The website was using code from 2004. It was completely impossible to maintain. Now we at least have a chance to add the new features everyone's been asking for.

Firefox/Win10: buttons (e.g. Vote for Manga Poll) don't work after page reload, or even at first load. Tried in troubleshoot mode, without extensions: same.

Works fine in Chrome.

Works fine in Chrome. What version of chrome? Did it work before and just stop working?

I can't replicate it. It works fine in my local version of Firefox.
