I dealt wonderfully with my symptoms by re-reading the whole manga 😀
Speaking of which, did anyone else notice that Luffy is God?
And why don't the pirates just go the other way around grand line and get to one piece a lot faster?

here's a question what kind of world is one piece, the world they are on is what a rectangle?
And wouldn't it be faster for other pirates that set sail from the other direction. So that the first island is one piece instead of the last.
Starter of Controversy.

so it would seem, but there are shots of the globe showing both the grand line and red line and all of those stupid quarters of their earth

Here you go:

Basically ships can't get straight to the last island of Grand Line(where One Piece is; forgot its name) because of the Calm Belt, since it has no wind and reek of monsters (Sea Kings).
So the journey has to start with Reverse Mountain which is the only entrance to Grand Line that doesn't involve crossing the Calm Belt.
The journey, then, must continue along Grand Line until reaching the Red Line again. And after crossing it (through Fisherman Island) we (or Luffy) would reach the second half of Grand Line, the New World. This last half is where the last island of Grand Line (and One Piece) is.
Or you could say it's just to make the greatest adventure of all time longer 😀

I cannot see Raftel anywhere on that map.

That's because noone other the Roger's crew know the exact location of Raftel. Although it is widely believed that Raftel is near/at the other side of the reverse mountain in the New world. Nami dreams to complete the world map, the location of raftel is still a msytery, and so is All Blue.
Marijoa on the other hand, is known for its location on top of the Redline because of the WG Hq

I see... But if that was the case (Raftel is near/at the other side of the reverse mountain in the New world) the WG should already have found Raftel? They can cross the Calm Belt after all.
No, wait. I'm probably thinking too much into this. There's still not much info about Raftel. We don't know whether it is a 'normal' island. It might be a sky island or probably an underwater island. Heck, knowing Oda, Raftel might reside inside a giant Sea King stomach or something. Let's just wait and see what does Oda have in store for us.

Assuming that it IS a normal island, the WG can't reach Raftel even if they wanted to. This is because of the Yonko. Even the Yonko can't reach Raftel because of the WG and the Shichibukai. It's this complex, yet balanced, relationship that keeps one side from gaining world domination (One Piece? 🙄 ).

yea you're right! There's a huge possibility that Raftel may not be a 'normal' island. It could prolly be like one of those 'hidden' islands (like Amazon lilly) , just like you have said, sky or underwater islands. In vol. 12 Oda has shown us a silhoutte of Raftel, on the surface, it does look like a normal island, but my guess it has barriers like magnetism and extreme weathers. BUT it makes me wonder HOW come people are aware of the existence of Raftel? what makes it a legendary island.. 😕
something tells me Oda has a reason to make that "Enel goes to the moon miniarc". I mean, what do the creatures in the moon have to relate to Onepiece? It was pointing towards an ancient civilisation..and so far, Roger suceeded in deciphering the World history and able to reach Raftel.
🤢 ack! I'm rambling again

It is said that whitebeard is the closest man to reach onepiece, could it be because of his haki abilities?..sheer physical strenghts rather than navigational abilities to get to raftel.

I'd say that (except Luffy perhaps) things are not a one man show in One Piece. No matter how powerful Whitebeard is, it's because he's got a kickass crew that he got close to Raftel. Still, the fact that he GOT close to it means that he, Whitebeard, knows where Raftel is. But something/someone prevented him from reaching it. Possibly other Yonko, Shichibukai or WG.

His crews arent as great as it seems though. Most of his underlings fainted just from sensing Shanks' presence/haki?.

or prolly he cant decipher the polynephs which could possibly give hints to Raftel. Luffy is prolly the closest man to reach raftel since he has Robin and Nami's abilities to back him up.

But people CAN cross the calm belt, the marines do and so does Boa.
Also I think Raftel is in your heart lululu 😁
