Your favorite Final Fantasy game?
I haven't played them all but my favorite so far is FFVII.
I'm currently playing FFXII. It's really good, and would've probably been my favorite if Vaan didn't feel so out of place in the story. It's nice of Square to try new things, but the way they made him just an observer to the story isn't too cool...
He feels kind of out of place and only relates to other characters with minor things.
(lost his brother and wants to be a sky pirate is about it... very shallow)
He doesn't even have a proper love interest in the game to get close with so he really feels out of place.
On the other hand FFVII was pretty epic with everything it did. It had complex characters, Cloud was actually part of the story, it had a defined evil force, Cloud had possible love interests. All in all Cloud seemed more real, and genuine than the shallow Vaan. So thats it, wonder which game will win in the poll.

I never thought Cloud felt real. To me, he was just another video game character with a big-ass sword and not much else.
I like FFVIII. Tons of people hate the junction system, but I love it. It finally, FINALLY gave us gamers the chance to assign and decide for ourselves who exactly in the party we want to be the magic-user, the physical powerhouse, the healer, etc. (and if you play your cards right they can be all in one) And speaking of cards, that Triple Triad minigame is sooo addicting. I spent so many hours playing it collecting all the cards. XD And finally, there's Squall. A main character in an RPG that didn't actually want to save the world!! That stupid save-the-world formula every game adapts is way too old. Squall actually just wanted to save himself and his friends. He was a confused boy who dealt with real-person issues (well, yeah...and some not-so-real too XD).
FFX is great too. I think the best feature the battle system had was the fact that characters can actually be switched in-battle without wasting turns. That was so amazing. It gave way for so many strategies to be formed. Sure, the final bosses became way too easy once you get all the celestial weapons, but still, there are those Dark Aeons always give you that real challenging fight. Oh, and Blitzball was so great, it could've almost been a whole game in itself. 😀 😀 😀

nine. dunno why, I just like that one the best. Been years since I played it, though.
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢
Chibidoro-sama=Neko-freak
They all have a special place in my heart. xD
Hmm, they're all good. I can't choose. >.<
FFI --> Old-School. 😀 It was interesting to see the beginnings of Final Fantasy. Though it didn't really had character development. It was... epic, I guess. 4 Chosen warriors who were destined to save the world.
FFII --> I haven't played this much. >.< But as far as I can tell, it has interesting characters. It has a nice story beginning.
FFIII --> Hmm, have I even played this one? Nope, I haven't. >.< A shame~ xD
FFIV --> You can see that the characters begin to be more in-depth. I liked the main protagonist. In the beginning he was a black night, but during the course of the game he changes into a paladin. He now realizes his past mistakes, and tries to atone for them. ... I think. A long time since I played it.
I'll buy it when it comes out on DS.
FFV --> One of the best female characters in FF is here imo, Faris. Played it on DS. And it has an interesting, moving story. 😀
FFVI --> This has the most amazing story of them all. All the characters are so developed. They all had their miserable events in their lives. You also suspected that Terra would end up with Locke, but she didn't which was a surprise. Though she always searched for 'love' and it seems she found it in children at a orphanage. So touching~ xD They all have touching backgrounds.
FFVII --> Definitely the most epic FF. Everyone remembers this one. I like the spin-offs that came out of it. The characters are all memorable, and this game gave birth to one of the greatest villains out there. I don't get though why most find it the 'best' FF ever. It's too overrated, imo.
FFVIII --> This is a huge step from the last one. Since FFVII were just polygons(?) in animation, and the FMVs were certainly alot better. Almost seemed real when it just came out. The battles(wars) were the greatest here, you actually felt that you were one of Balamb Garden. Also it has the best music ever. And it fits every scene perfectly. I don't remember how much I re-played this one. That's how good it was. This one is the most romantic FF~ 😀 ... Ooh~, I like the card game too. 🤣
FFIX --> Back to basics. 😀 This is probably the most underrated FF game. I don't know why though. It has a great story, with non-stereotypical characters. Though the animation hasn't really improved from the last FF. It had its share of memorable moments nonetheless.
FFX --> Most emotional FF. It had such a 'cinematic' feel to it. First FF btw, that was released on the PS2. You could really see that the animation had jumped giant leaps. There were all this different kind of towns/areas. The first time the characters had voices, which made it more real to me. Made the characters look more 'alive'. I also liked the thought provoking message in this one. That religion(Yu Yevon) is not absolute.
FFXI --> Haven't played.
FFXII --> I love this game. 😀 This is the most recent one, and I'm satisfied with how they did it. Though the antagonist was cliché, the rest of the story was great. Every character got its share of screentime. I especially loved the new license system. It was refreshing, since you can't keep the old battle system the whole time.
FFXIII --> I can't wait for this one. 🤣 😀

I find this poll to be unfairly biased towards the 3D rendered ones.

FFVII is the best FF game i've ever played.
I love the story,ATB system, materia and characters.
FFVIII was really good game too with the story and others but the only thing I dislike is how the magic is used (I'm more into MP)
In harsh times, the strongest currency is cooperation.

My favorite Final Fantasy is FFIV, just because it was the first I played and it had such a wonderful story, plus Rydia becomes so cute after she grows all up.

I want to say so many things about this topic but
i will just say a few words for each game for now.
FFVIII - best romance plot,
great caracters, the fact that the enemies level up with you
FFVII - best story (nice balance between, romance, mystery, revenge,sci-fi,etc...)
the materia system, sephiroth 😀
FFX - Great story, great plot, the sphere grid system (i really like it better than
normal leveling up), great ending (i know that some ppl dont like sad endings
but i find them very enjoyable
FFIX - I really liked this game`s world, its fantasy is majestic, cant say i liked
the story as much as the above though.
FFXI - still havent got the chance to play it.
FFXII - i have played about 20 hours and except the gameplay and battles
i cant say im thrilled with it, its story kind of reminds me of IX which
isnt my favourite type. Even though its reviews were superb id say its
just good, nothing like the series`s best (alhtough i cant be sure untill
i finish it )
FFV(snes) - my favourite gameplay, the job system is the greatest caracter
building system in the whole series.
FFIV(snes) - very nice sad story(too much death), but doesnt have much
more to offer (keeping in mind of course the series high
standards)
FFVI(snes) - just great, this game has everything, it probably would have been
my favourite if i had played it in its time. One thing i didnt like
very much is that it didnt have much of a main protagonist, instead
it focused around all caracters about the same (although many
ppl actually find this positive)
FF II (NES) - i have only played its PSX remake, it was good but hasnt got much
to offer compared to the newer titles (again, if i had played it then,
i might have had a different opinion)
FF I (NES) - i have played both the original version and the PSX remake, and i
have to say i really loved them. Even though it doesnt have much
of a story it still made me not want to leave it alone, maybe its
the fact that its so tough 😀 (1 hour of battles to buy a phoenix down!)
that it made me want to beat it even more.
FF III (NES) - I havent played this one yet, but ive just started playing its DS
remake and its looks really good (Job system banzai)
FF mystic quest (NES) - My opinion is, stay away from this game, i didnt like it
at all. If anyone played it through and liked it plz tell me why
Xenogears - Best scenario, just a as simple as that, doesnt have much more
i would commend it for, it just had the greatest sci-fi scenario
i have ever come across in movies, anime, manga.books or anything
ever.(It is actually a 5 part story and this game is part 5, parts 1
through 4 are told through xenosaga 1-4 for ps2)
Last thing i have to say is Final Fantasy is all about story (for me at least), thats
why my favourites are VII and VIII (although i think i had more fun playing V and VI)
Mittsu no kokoro ga hitotsu ni nareba...
Hitotsu no seigi wa hyakuman pawaa.
- Getter Robo -
V I I by quite a long way. Brings back childhood memories.

I've played every FF game at least twice. The one I've had must fun with is XI I think, cause you play with new people every time.
I've done plenty of hacking on FF VII. Check it out on youtube. 😀 😎

S'right. No love for Tactics? 😢
It was a first for the series in its style of gameplay, only to be repeated once by Tactics Advance (versus the 10 or so iterations for the "traditional" RPG format). Plus the story was pretty epic with some pretty cool characters. Who could forget the ownage dealt out when you finally get to control Thunder God Cid? Who cares that he was insanely overpowered? At least he's on your side.
...Guess it IS kinda restrictive since there's no real exploration, but still, it's an honerable mention.
ETA: Oh, and no Crystal Chronicles (GameCube)? Then again, that one was kinda forgettable.
