i think the most "deserving" shounen should be kannade.
one of the first shonens i read and really liked.
the best security guard, EVER.

The best deserving manga are the ones few have read.
That doesn't make sense.. Because eventually it'll be popular.. And then suddenly it's not 'deserving' anymore.. >.>

All good manga will become popular, all popular manga get hyped, and none of them will live up to that hype.
I haven't seen anyone mention Hikaru no Go yet. Personally, I really like the series, at least up until
Sai disappeared . But I like to pretend the manga ended right there. Also surprised that nobody has mentioned GUNNM yet.
Anyway, I already said what my favorites are in the original top shounen/seinen threads.

@Blakraven: I didn't like reborn at all.. >_> Read the first 6 volumes of it.. and it's just repetitive.. Though some say that it will get good at volume 7.. But I'm still not going to read it.. 🤣 😛 The slow start ruined it for me..
I think I understand the reason why Reborn is slow at first. There are SOOO many characters that need to be introduced before the main action starts. If people keep on reading, they will see there is a reason(s) for the introductions of these characters. A lot of characters that show up and have a fight with Tsuna in the beginning, or don't have a fight with, plays a role in the overall stories.
My favourites:
- Hikaru no Go, Death Note, Gintama, Hunter x Hunter, Tactics, Wild Life, Hellsing, Yougen no Chi. Angel Densetsu, 07-Ghost, Nabari no Ou, Switch, Ares, Piano no Mori, and Sekirei <-- only because Homura looks very cool.
I think 1 reason why some popular series get hated because some people, in nature, likes to hate thing that is popular. Just like it has to do with people. People love to put other on a pedestal but also love to bring that so high person crash down.

I agree what was said about hitman revorn, it does deserve more popularity
the best shounen and seinen come from the same author... Inoue Takehiko's Slam Dunk (can't get better than this) and Vagabond for the seinen position

One piece. IMO its underrated, not as much on the online community but incredibly irl. I find that most people who do not like it gave it up before half the crew formed or simply because the art style is different or they saw the brutally maimed us release, sure it did start kinda slow but the series really grows on you if you give it time.
Also I rarely hear anything about Fairy Tail.
one piece is just in the same league with naruto and bleach. I might be biased, I read naruto and bleach but not one piece, the mangaka should give some effort for his artwork, its horrible I would rather read some random shoujos/smut.
I agree with Magnum, the best deserving shounen would be slam dunk.

Really? I have always found Oda's style to be very endearing to his characters. The artwork is one of the reasons I have kept to one piece for so long, if it were the same dandy style shared amongst the rest of mangaka, I would have a either passed it up or dropped long ago. It kinda separates one piece from all the other "i want to be very best" shounen. If any shounen should up it's artwork I'd say HxH, even then you'd still loose to much of the characters.
if it's solely based on artwork, I would say I"s by Masakazu Katsura, too bad he always make overdramatic story.
to be honest I didnt feel anything special with HxH artwork it's just typical shounen standard, even GetBacker much is better.
what about Evangelion? I like its depth of philosophy, I've watched all series and movies, waiting for the new 4 remake movies, the trailer just made me drool XD, however I know that the story wont appeal to most people.

totaly agree, he seems to be a very pesimistic person, I've cried a few times while reading his manga

I totally agree Slam dunk rules the shounen genre its the only shounen i finished and it owned.
I'm amazed that they didnt already start a 300+ ep anime for Vagabond 😐

I thought GUNNM was overrated, but I think mainly because I read it this year and the art style didn't appeal to me. The same applies to it's story. If I read it a while back near its original released I might have like it better, compared to other manga I've read it doesn't live up to it's hype (currently #10 ranked on MU's seinen manga ratings list). The same applied to Akira, which a lot of people call a classic.
Seinen manga that deserve the hype they get are: Vagabond, Blade of the Immortal, Gantz, Planetes, and Monster. Probably most underrated seinnen manga is Jiraishin, where the English publications were discontinued for some reason or another.
I thought Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece were good shounen titles. The storylines were pretty good and the art wasn't bad (although people find that One Piece's artwork is horrible, I don't mind it at all). They all had good storylines that lasted a good while: Bleach's SS arc ended at what, volume 20 or so and Naruto's storyline didn't go downhill until somewhere around volume 30, which is sometime post-timeskip. Lately, Naruto and Bleach aren't what they were but given how long they kept up the good storylines I don't think they have undeserved popularity.
Additional shounen series that deserve their popularity: Death Note (though I agree that L's demise meant the series demise as well, it's still overall a good series), Eyeshield 21, GTO, FMA, Beck: MCS, Claymore, and Hitman Reborn.
