Hi, I'm looking for a manga that has deep meaning to it. Most shoujo's revolve around a girl falling in love with a guy, typical story. But I want a story that has a storyline to it, something that touches you, and when you read it you're like "wow that was a great story and I feel changed". Some examples are Glass Mask, a girl who loves acting, it really touched me and even though it's about romance, it does not completely focus on romance. Also Mars, was a great story, although this one focuses more on love, it has a storyline to it and I felt changed reading it. Much thanks to any recommendations (: !

Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan: An ex-pianist who attempted to commit suicide 3x falls in love with a murderer on death row. Seriously one of the best mangas I've ever read.

Are you asking for a love story with a deep plot, or would a non-romantic one do? If for the latter, I can think of any number of examples- but for the former, almost none.

Anyway- maybe Sing Yesterday for Me would fit- I don't know whether you'd consider the storyline 'deep', but it has very tranquil quality to it, and is by no means your average sappy romance manga.
I second Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan; though I haven't read it, it's rating alone says something, right?

Fullmoon wo sagashite - It looks like a typical Arina Tanemura Shoujo, but it is really deep
Ayashi no Ceres - great story, great art
Fairy Cube (and other Kaori Yuki series) - tragedy & shoujo

Try the manga in my signature. It's very very good in terms of ethical conundrums, moral grays and stuff like that... It doesn't have any love in it but it's deep.

Or if not, Arigatou.

....try not, arigatou....it's not deep...well they go deep in the girls but not what you want, totally sure.

Try Usagi drop (not drops), My girl, life, vitamin (short edition of life, lol), Hana no Namae, honey and clover....there's a lot more but can't remember them atm.

Arigatou = deconstruction of Japanese society. It's under-rated and touches on themes and consequences of "honne", "wa", "idealized loyalty", etc., which are often never acknowledged or rarely even spoken of, not even in many other Asian societies, in which they exist to a certain extent.

Really? This is what I got from it.

Arigatou = The rape-sexslave-drugs-mindbreaking-hentai I usually hate to read >.> I guess it's just another kind of rape hentai where you make the girl a sexslave by breaking her down by sex and drugs while the family can't do a shit about it....well the difference is that the father tries....but sadly like every hentai of that kind....he fails. BAD END!

If you could find greatness in that...well then I'm sure you can do that for every other hentai manga with that theme. ;P

(No, I'm not mad though it may sound like it, lol.)

Even if I'm biased and don't like Naoki's stories cuz they tend to go too much into sex when there's no need to do it, I'm quite sure loveadria don't want that kind of story, yep quite sure.

PS: Wa? Isn't that a particle? You're talking about honne and tatemae, right?

Renri no Eda

I second that...even if I wished to the end....I could fully accept the end since it was such a lovely story~

@T1: Wa = harmony... You know, that concept that "exists" but "is never talked" about. "Kawaii" = part of this trend and so on.

Ahhh... I guess everyone has different viewpoints, eh? 🙂 Yeah... I forgot about the rape part. ^^;; Oh well. 🙂
