According to Japan's Association of Copyright for Computer Software, the Kyoto Prefectural Police's High-Tech Crime Task Force and other cooperating authorities arrested three male suspects in Tokyo, Morioka, and Osaka, and searched their homes on May 18 for unauthorized file-sharing of manga. The suspects allegedly scanned and uploaded images of Weekly Shonen Jump and Weekly Shonen Sunday manga magazines on the Winny peer-to-peer file-sharing network.

Yay for martyrs. Go down fighting, lol.
Seriously this is no lauging matter. You guys who read those series inquestion should feel so guilty: HSDK, Ai Kora, Zatch Bell and a couple lesser known ones.jk. This is terrible news if this means that they are gonna start cracking down but as we all know they can never stop it from continuing. Never. They don't sell manga in my country so boo. What do they want me to do not read manga ? Import it ? Impossible. Make it cheaper and more available then get mad. But I do understand them cracking down in Japan 🙁

Hopefully this hunting-by-IP will be forced to an end, following suit of a Dutch court:
Among others, the RIAA hires the US based company MediaSentry to monitor file-sharing networks for infringements of their client’s media. MediaSentry’s job is to identify and trace IP addresses they claim are engaged in such activity.
MediaSentry’s effectiveness has been called into question by Dr. Pouwelse in Foundation v. UPC Nederland. It was concluded that the “shoddy” way MediaSentry collects and processes IP addresses has no lawful basis.

Boy, those Japanese love to crack-down on their own people. 😐
Nice of them not to come after us though.

they are arrested because they uploaded before release date... right?
FOR US, we upload slllllooowwwww and scanlate ssslllooww o_____o if you call that before date, i'll laugh.
Licensed manga.. hmm i might be ashame.. and half not ashame.. Ashamed because we are reading manga published by USA o_O and not paying even a single cent.. Not ashame because each volume of manga cost too much XP 10.00$ as for estimation 😛
*waiting or us to get arrested too 🙄 *

That won't happen anytime soon like daed said only big companies like viz and adv have the financial capabilities to actually do something about it. The rest are just too run down or too poor.lol. Because of us. Also the scanlation community promotes manga far better than the official licensing companies and the quality is better so for now japan will turn a blind eye and let the popularity spread overseas then when we're comfortable bust our balls. lol 🤣 🤣 🤣

Oh. I remember that previous instance. Wasn't it that they couldn't track them down through the software, so they got their IP from posts in the forum that the people made? Let that be a lesson to you, don't post in forums. ^^
I do find law enforcements priorities on cracking down on crime kind of funny. Instead of focusing on violent crimes like rape and murder, form a special force to hunt down people who are sharing manga. But I guess they go where the money is.

Well it is. And that's why the world is the way it is, greed and lust and envy and sloth and hehe.... wait was lust one of them? Oh haven't read the manga in a while 🙁

It is only logical. They are doing it in Japan. It is against the law to violate copyright.

yes...but they are doing it in the country where the manga is produced.....Which makes it even worse in some cases
