Of course not... I hate crappy endings..
That is why I haven't read the following because I found out they have crappy endings:

Strawberry 100%
Slam Dunk
Shaman King

and there is more I just can't think of them right now..

let me say one thing: I think the Climax is the MOST important part of the series.

Endings out of blue.
The Mx0 kind of endings.
First it takes ages and ages for
the situation to develop and then
boom, it blows up like a car when
switching to the second gear.
(Except for you miserable people who
can't drive manuals.)

It may stop me from picking it up, but if I have enjoyed the story so far and found out it sucked, I'd still keep going.

As long as my overall enjoyment of the series outweighed my disappointment, I'd say it was worth it.

I mean, Teggen Toppa Gurren Laggan had a pretty bad ending, but that still hasn't stopped it from being my all time fav anime.

No, when the ending sucks it ruins the story for me.

Kurokami, Mahoromatic, and Utawarerumono come to mind right off the bat.

In my opinion there are 2 types of 'bad' endings:

  1. an ending that a lot of people don't like (but a minority of people do like it) because they don't like the ending itself. (example Ichigo 100%, Death Note)
  2. an ending that is generally accepted by everyone as bad because of a rushed ending due to series getting dropped (main example Mx0).

the first type of bad ending is not as bad as the second because even if you don't like the outcome you still get closure, even if you rather not have it because you didn't like the outcome, at least you know its done. i am always looking for a Mx0 squeal or something even though i know it will never come T_T.
(on a related note: i have a feeling that i wont like the MSN ending when it eventually arrives but I'm still reading it)

Nah.
Maybe I would go halfway through and then someone tells me the ending and I absolutely hate it...I would drop it.

Nope - if I hear that the ending was awful, I won't pick up the series. If the finale is suckish, then it usually ruins the entire thing for me.
It's kind of annoying, because I know there are some good manga/anime out there that I won't touch because I know the ending stinks...

Slam Dunk, Ichigo 100%...I know there's more, but the names escape me at the moment

On the other hand...if I'm already a good way into the series when I find out about the bad ending, I'll finish it. I'll never re-read it, but I'll finish it. But I've never yet found a manga that was so fantastic that even an awful ending couldn't ruin it. 🤨

Depends on what made the ending suck...

of course ill still read it!!
the opinion of how the thing ended varies from person to person...maybe it if i read it i will like it...and if not it still "how it happened"... just take Battle Royale for example, some people said its all gore to the core...but i think that its beautiful and exciting and the brain splash didnt really get to me... 😮

Sigh. It didn't take very long for people to post non-tagged spoilers in the comments. Can somebody go add some tags to protect the innocent? Thanks.

that may be true, however it doesn't change the fact it's still a bad ending

Define sucked.

Sucked: Not how we wanted or imagined it to turn out.

That being the case, every manga would suck. Not everything turns out EXACTLY how we imagine it to be.
You either have to except it and like it or reject it and hate it.

i think i will define a bad ending as one that does have closure. like the recently ended to-love-ru. personally i am ok with ichigo 100%, although the ending was not that expected when i start reading, but i feel that its still a good end cuz it gave closure to most of the characters.

but this is just personally preference, i don like sad endings, so i avoid tragedy. the saddest ive read is probably karin where they have to sacrifice in order to keep the love:/

What I consider bad endings differ, based on that particular series. And if I feel that I don't like where it's going (or where it went), I'll drop it. So I guess my answer to the poll is NO.
