there was a study a couple of years back that it was proven that gamers generally score higher on SATs and also generally have a higher vocabulary. The study ended up concluding that gaming has shown to help in certain ways because rather then just intake like television there is a level of interacting that requires the brain to function.

Edit: forgot to say the study did mention an increase in memory functions because of the volume of knowledge presented and required to play or something like that. Think this translated to fightings games and such when you memorize all their moves and what not I guess.

I play FPS, hte likes of GTA III and RPG on the pc, on videogame I like fighting games and strategy two player games to be played with my friends. I think it is a good thing to play games especialy RPG because it exercises the mind and reflects.
PS: I don't like sport games.

Right now, I play only J-RPG games... But, back in the old days, I played every kind of genre.. Shooters, action, platform, strategy,.. you name it. 😛

But if a great GTA game like San Andreas would be released, I would buy it in a second..

I think gaming is fine,.. as long as you don't do it too much... I get headaches, then.. @_@

Gaming is a load of fun, and yeah, good thing to do for stress relief. I'm not obsessive with it though. I do it often, but I'm not obsessive. 😛 Gaming helps me concentrate and control my patience. XD

my mum also nags at me if i stay in front of com for too long, she thinks im playing games no matter what im doing. can't help it, since most of the time i really am playing games anyway ><

she read an article of a person died after playing com for long hours without resting, so i understand what she feels. so if she wants me to get off com, i try to do it without any complains 🙂

i was thinking when i do become a parent next time, i'll play along with my child. hopefully that way, i can have a 'better control' over her/his gaming life 😉

Well, I don't think people should game for hours to no end- literally. And if my Mom or Dad didn't catch me sleeping so often, they'd probably worry too. ^^;

I grew up in a crappy neighborhood and later moved to a neighborhood devoid of other children. My parents first bought me an Atari, and later, a Sega Master System to keep me inside the house so I wouldn't go out and play with the troublemakers and gangsters. After, they bought me Nintendo and Genesis so I wouldn't go crazy from having no friends.

My aunts and other adults always told me I was waisting my life and could not get a good job playing videogames....but now I work for a videogame accessory company and make a gang of money.....so there

Polite bump.

Haha, most of the time, I'd rather buy games when I feel buying something. 🤣 Ooh, extra cash? I could buy a game with that! :'D Though I haven't bought a new game for months though.

Hmpf, my mom doesn't like how I buy games often.

Highly anticipating the new FF. ¤___¤

Yep, my parents are the same as well.

They hate it when i'm on the computer let alone gaming all the time 🤣

I have times when I can be really into a game, and want to play that for a couple of weeks, then it will die down and i'll move onto something else, whether it'd be moving onto a new game, or watching DVD's 🤣

I try and have my 'game time' around the holidays, so my mum doesn't moan at me too much about wasting time playing games when I should be in my room doing work. Still, it doesn't stop her complaining. Now I just end up playing when she's not around.

I've played many types of games since my childhood, but now mostly I play fps, and fighting games, lately my bro got really hooked on Street Fighter 4, I played a lot with him, like 100 games everyday.
