Question for Female Otakus

At the risk of sounding like the bitch I am, I'm going to say it's because most are as pathetically desperate as the op.
For me, though, it's mostly because otaku guys can be super pervy in some really nasty ways. I mean, I'm open to lots of kind of kinkiness, but someone who jacks off to Tokyo Akazukin is not boyfriend material.
(I know that's technically not hentai... I just don't know any lolicon hentai titles and I definitely don't feel like browsing the horror that is the hentai section.)
Not that all otaku guys are lolicon guro perverts. And of those that aren't, that aren't antisocial, fat, and pimply from too much time sitting around watching cartoons, there are some great guys. It's always nice to talk to someone with the same interests as you, but in a boyfriend I would need that to extend to things not otaku-related. I stand by my belief that otaku girls are way better in general than otaku boys, though. I love otaku girls. Bizarre perviness in them is less threatening and more endearing. o^^o

I like Tokyo Akazukin and I am female. 🤣 It's not even that scary. 😲 Shouldn't they jack off to MPD Psycho instead? I think it's hilarious - there's even neko shota. And I am sure they won't jack off to it. I mean, it's so far from being hentai or "sexy". There are already loads of real lolicon hentai out there if they are that type of people and I am sure they won't be interested in Tokyo Akazukin for that purpose. I would say a lot of stupid ecchi is far worse than this title and a lot of hentai. I read hentai but can't stand those ecchi ones. They are what otaku guys like.
Polite bump.
I think it matters more on your personality. And who's an otaku nowadays, anyways? Most of the people who watch/read anime/manga are pretty much normal people, and even some very attractive people whom you wouldn't suspect of having such a hobby.
First, you have to work on yourself, if you want a relationship! 😮

Reasons I wouldn't want a male otaku:
We'd have nothing in common but liking anime.
Our tastes in certain anime/manga would definitely clash.
And lastly,
I'd be annoyed if he was more into 2-d characters than me. >:-(
The only way a male otaku would work out for me was if he had a somewhat girlish heart (without being gay), or was incredibly my type with a healthy obsession for anime/manga.

I'm really confused by the existence of this topic. I've never chosen a guy based on his likes...I chose them based on who he is. A guy who is a disgusting slob is going to be that way whether he watches sports or anime. Same with the "catches." In my person experience, I guess I don't hang out with "otaku" in general. I don't even consider myself an otaku. I just hang out with people I like, regardless of our interests. Sure, it's fun when I meet a fellow nerd, but it's not a condition for any of my relationships.
All you guys worried about finding an otaku girlfriend...I wouldn't. I mean, both me and my boyfriend both bring different things to the relationship. I learned to like rap and concerts from my boyfriend, and I got him interested in Urasawa Naoki and Shakespeare. I seems to me if it's natural attraction you'll be able to share interests without forcing it.

How this is a really interesting discussion we got here (spent the last 4 days reading a bit of the 66 pages and made some notes 😛 )
As a male otaku (somehow using this word doesn't really work well with me), I really only just like the occasional Anime marathon and have about 4animes that I watch on a weekly release basis. Even as manga and anime goes most friends who I know which are into anime and manga say that I have a weirdly low tolerance for mature content and fanservice in anime. (Somehow I have different standards for manga, note how I actually managed to read stuff like "shoujo sect" but apart from that I was different to it and I completely don't know how the hell I manage to read crap like To-love-ru).
All this started about 5years ago when my Dad (who I extremely respect) said to me that "You have to take up hobbies to become and interesting person." Sadly those hobbies turned out to be World of Warcraft, and Anime/Manga. By the time I got to high-school I gave up games (World of Warcraft was doing horrible things to my waistline, and I've spent the last 2 years losing the weight I put on, still got like another 2 to go lol) and starting studying hard. But due to my obsession with the major time sink that is World of Warcraft, I felt like I have missed a lot of what being a teenager was all about, clubbing, partying and to some extent, the abuse of illegal substances (yes this was common in my school)
I seem to have never been able to make up for that lost time between being a 'teenager' and a young adult and suddenly I snapped straight into a role of a responsible Adult and never had the urge to club or party or consume alcohol in general. I suppose most otakus or greek can agree with this statement.
To this day I'm currently at a good University doing an Engineering course (on my 2nd year now) in a foreign country, and have still not managed to find any of these so called "otaku girls" that I wouldn't mind dating (Note that the otaku girls have similar traits that the other otaku girls were complaining about, such as bad hygiene and no self presentation). Sure I found some in the local Anime and Manga society, but they are like what otakus are to what otakus are to normal people. (basically very otakuish) Actually going into that Anime/Manga society about 4months ago as alienated me from the concept of socialising with other "otakus" since I worry I end up collecting figures or talking to obsessive fanboys or fangirls, and talking to the single guy who is in his mid 40s and heavily into Anime and all things Moe. They are all nice people but it isn't something I aspire to. I know I sound picky but I'm pretty sure I can do better than that
Now quoting somethings other people say, apparently hobbies are a major foundation of interest in a relationship, which is kinda alarming since the only people who really like what I like, are hardcore World of Warcrafts raiders, people who do Astrophysics or know about Relativity (God I only did Astrophysics and Relativity for like 3months of my life but I find it so interesting and fascinating that I just like to talk about it, but it wasn't interesting enough for give up my dream of being a Process Engineer) and of course Anime and Manga. As far as I'm concerned the pickings are very slim and it has really effected my self-esteem to an extent of procrastinating on the idea of going into any kind of relationships until I've finish my course, I can relate to the OP in some ways but unlike him I've had zero experiences with relationships (that basically puts me at the bottom of the pile lol). All I can do is spend the next 3 years finishing my masters and become a trainee (for another 3-4 years) to become a chattered Engineer, and maybe when I start getting a decent salary, people would notice my efforts a lot more. But then again isn't that just delaying the issue?
Just a personal rant from a shameless guy lol
(I just realised how needy the post sounded lol) 😢
Do not feed the trolls

First rule: If you sell yourself short, we will too, so don't.
Just because you happen to like those things doesn't mean that the person you're interested in has to also like all of those things. Any one of them may be enough to spark off a conversation that goes into the wee hours of the night, and that's really all you need to look for initially.
The rest will come, or it won't. Don't overthink it.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

I wouldn't really mind. Except I'm a pretty all round otaku (I prefer the term maniac or the Devoted One). I got my huge collection of yaoi and my ecchi/hentai figurines. Now, if I had an otaku boyfriend/girlfriend where the frag are they gonna put their otaku stuff? Our pad would be crowded if we ever lived together.
I'd want someone who wouldn't mind my creepy otakuness (It's not like manga and anime and comics and figurines are my only interests). Someone who can watch XXXHOLIC with me and straight after that laugh at the rediculousness of Bible Black.
But I swear to God, if I find him spanking the monkey to hentai and not me, it's over.
Also, I don't think one should go out on a quest to find an Otaku girlfriend or boyfriend for that matter. You should find some one who likes you for you :3

It's not that I don't want to be with an otaku guy, but I don't know one in real life. Or maybe they're just hiding their otakuness? I dunno.
I've dragged a few guys to watch anime with me. They sorta liked it too, either that or they're just being polite... but yea, never gone out with an otaku guy. It would be nice to know one, but it's not a requirement for me at all.
Maybe its the fact that I hide I am one or I just try to get the girl to like anime too XD. -_- Yeah I've also noticed they try to be very polite after watching something they don't understand and think is childish to watch cartoons after 11 >.<
🤣 wow for real?, big surprise there XP
i met an otaku friend from the National Defence Academy of Japan, he told me in his home country his family looks at his hobbies as a disgrace (but fortunately the language of the nerd defies national, cultural, and ethnic borders!)

What I'm saying is just from my experience and the whole world probably isn't like this because there's exceptions, but whatever.
Not trying to sound mean or anything here, but every otaku guy I've ever met is really gross/nerdy. And sometimes they freak out like I'm aiming a gun at them if I try to talk to them.
Like the time I saw a dude about my age reading One Piece on the computer in the library when I was getting a newspaper. I walked up to him and said "One Piece, hm?" or something to see if I could make conversation and he whimpered, I swear. I left feeling sorry, yet a little amused at what had happened. 😢Plus, guys think about manga/anime in a very different way than girls do. When a guy finds a series he really likes he just reads/watches it and that's it. He might talk about it a little, but that's it.
But girl otaku are way more involved. They'll talk about it all the time and make jokes about it with their friends. Or they'll write fan fiction, draw fan art, make icons, or whatever. And a guy otaku would have way different taste than me and it would clash. We would probably be able to agree on some series, but even then we would have different thoughts on it.
The last reason is a little weird, but oh well. I'm afraid of being outdone. In my group of friends I'm a bigger otaku than any of them so I can always recommend things and tell them what's going on in Japan concerning manga/anime and all that. It sounds prideful, but I love being the one who knows. 😀
I wouldn't want a guy who knew more about it than me because then I would feel competitive/threatened. It's like the whole manga and anime thing is my territory.I have other hobbies and stuff, even though manga is my biggest interest, so it doesn't really matter. I'd just like to go out with a guy who won't mind my interests and would maybe watch a little anime with me every once and a while.
That is a little one sided, my friends and I talk about manga ... every time Death Note raped our minds, every time Sasuke ruins Naruto, when we read not so popular mangas and decide to recommend it to each other... heck we even began to make a Bleach forum game, (before bleach sucked and university sucked all the free time out of our veins), we decided to use other manga/anime characters for the NPSs (Kyo from Samurai deeper Kyo was captain of the 11 division) and each one of us made a character, writing everything the Bio the history and the powers (it was supposed to beat Alma-shinigami) BUT after a while none of us could give it the time it needed...
In the end, I mean that there are guys that like anime and Manga and are NOT trolls, is just that we KNOW better than to call ourselves Otaku and we know the world is much more than 2D characters.
PS: someone has a signature that says:
The Real Otaku are the ones that know better than to call themselves one.
