Eh, I can appreciate them, but I don't really like receiving them. My friend gets a lot, but they usually are just impulses by the guys that like her. I'd rather love letters be more serious, but hey, people want to say their feelings some way.

I think I sent someone a love letter back in elementary school. I still like him after all these past 5 years...He lives in another country, so I can't see him anymore.

I wouldn't mind if I got one, but I'd prefer if they told me to my face.

I can appreciate it...but I'd rather they say it to my face. Love letters can cause a lot of unnecessary drama.

Ha, these were all the rage in middle school.
The old, oh-so-romantic "slip it through the odor vents in the locker" thing.
I sent a few in my day. Got a few, too, but never from the people I wanted to get them from! (And I'm guilty of the crime of prank love letters, too.)

Those were juveline affairs, though, a few printed lines of truly awful poetry on heart stationery. I would love to get one of those old-fashioned, bosom-heavingly romantic love letters like in old novels. That would truly be more effective than even the most clever of one-liners. XD

I did. I was such a coward back then that I dropped it into his locker on the last day of school, and then his family moved to another state that summer and I've never seen or heard from him since. (I've even thought of looking him up on occasion, just for the grins, but his name is so common it's nigh impossible to search for him.)

He was slated to be my Geometry class the next fall semester at school too. I had to tell the teacher that his family had moved. sigh I didn't pay much attention in class that first day because I wound up thinking about him the whole time. Silly crush. =)

Discovered a small piece of paper in my school locker three years ago with the words 'I Love You' written on it, with a simple skull and crossbones drawn underneath.

I only remembered it because of this thread, actually. Never found out who wrote it, which is a shame cos it could well have been the girl I had a crush on. 🙁

Love letters are for shy people who can't say I love you face to face.

EDIT: Oh darn it! My friend posted the message above without me knowing! =(
Well, personally for me. I think a love letter is very romantic because someone put time and effort to write something on paper for you only. It's like written history of their love for you....(or maybe I'm just old fashioned...) But if it was a prank, I get very annoyed. If it was just a short note that said "I love you" I would probably dismiss it and throw it in the bin.

I've never given one...I never had a problem saying I love you (they're just words). However, I have received a few. I would prefer that the girl say something to me, but the love letters were mostly from painfully shy girls, so it was to be expected. One girl in high school wrote me one that sounded similar to letters from the Revolution...it was quite impressive. I didn't even know her before this, but asked her out purely because of the note and we dated for about a year after that.

I've never gotten one or given one. In my school, it's just straight forward "Will you go out with me?" 🤣 I would actually be happy to receive one because it'd be a nice change of pace instead of e-mail, and other hi-tech stuff.

Love letterS?? Maybe its just my old school but love letters never went around...purely due to the fact that there are way too many pranksters... 🤣 (guilty) cough

I wasn't the majour contender though. The kind of pranks that people did were along the lines of, school friend goes on msn adds someone from school...fake profile(as some super model), talk to this slightly lonely kid....have a sex chat with him...0.o then bring it into school and hand it out like a leaflet to everyone. Thats just one of many that people did and i'm sure love letters was a common prank that happend. People can have a cruel sense of humour some times.sigh 🤣

I had a girl once who wrote me quite a few love letters but never got round to sending me them...had to hear about about it instead...and ended up a face to face, so much easier.

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

Now I think about it, I have also participated in such pranks 🤢 Won't mention details, just that I still laugh when I remember what dumb stuff we wrote xD Well, I was 6th grade after all.
Also, two years ago I received a prank SMS that was supposed to be from a classmate of mine. I never found out who sent it, but I hope it wasn't the real deal since I answered it in a befitting way 🤣
Never heard of someone who seriously sent or received a love letter here. I guess it's old-fashioned.
