Hi, new here in the forums, but I've been using this site for quite awhile. Anyway what I'm looking for is a seinen manga with a well developed story and well developped characters. I'm interested in action, horror, tragedy, drama, mystery, and etc. I guess stuff like:

Gantz
Vagabond
Eden
Zetman
Kiseijuu
Berserk
Pluto/20th century boys - same mangaka
Black Lagoon

I heard that Dangu is supposed to be really good but when I read a little bit, it seemed stupid and not really deep. Should I give it another try?

Also I would love if sci fi was mixed in with the story, but if not I can live with whatever you got.

Battle Royale - Think Lord of the Flies setting and psychology with Kill Bill violence.

Sanctuary - Complex plot dealing with politics and the yakuza, plenty of violence and two of the most awesome leads ever, Hojo and Asami.

I don't really dabble in much seinen manga myself, but I totally second the vote for Bokurano. I'm currently reading it and enjoy it very much. I like it's intensity and I don't know how more tragic you can get with

dying children (not sure if that's a spoiler or not, but better safe than sorry, yeah?).

Yes, try it again.. 😀 It's very similar to Vagabond, in my opinion.. So if you like that, you must like Dangu..

Thanks for all the recs so far. I've already read these btw:

Battle Royale
Eden
Threads of time
Shamo
Tenjou Tenge
Übel Blatt

But I'll try everything else. I guess I will give Dangu another try too. When you say Dangu is a lot like Vagabond, in what way do you mean? Like the concept of wanting to become the strongest? Or trying to find oneself's place? Because the very reason I love Vagabond is the whole philosophy about what it really means to be strong and crap like that. If it is like that then I'll definitely try it out no questions asked.

I would recommend Poppoya Love Letter if you're looking for something short.

I don't think that Dangu's like Vagabond, but it's still a good one.

Kazan is good. It's more fantasy than sci-fi though.

Well, that's just because it's still young.. 🤣 But you'll see.. It will get over 20 volumes, for sure..

Lone Wolf and Cub and Samurai Executioner are both very good as well if you into the period samurai stuff.
