New Poll - Encouraging More Research
The Ninja Run (it obviously has a tvtropes article) can be seen in all sorts of Nina related games as Shinobi or Ninja Gaiden but the characters always had one hand outstretched to usually hold a weapon and another behind them or behind their back to drawn a throwing weapon while running. Characters with capes are also famous for their action poses and why shouldn’t they.
I looked at earlier Naruto chapters and characters ran normally or jumped while using their whole body. Team 7 even used a boat. The anime obviously introduced the dumb running animation later on which snuck into the manga later on too (but less pronounced) and i blame it on the exceptionally lazy animation. That pose is just way easier to animate and it would be easy to say on model or use crap CG. It´s actually the Shippuden part that made me give up on watching what i read previously but whatever. A then 14 years old friend was more interested in the dumb breathing technique Sasuke mentions early on... Boys will be boys and Samurai/Ninja are the Cowboys of the East. Meaning that most what pop culture tells you about them is wrong.
Did you know that Hattori Hanzō had various supernatural abilities, such as disappearing and appearing elsewhere, psychokinesis, and precognition? Cool story Wikipedia! His even more famous bro Oda Nobunaga though was a bisexual child rapist and that one is true. How many manga acknowledge that again?
The last time i really learned something through manga was in Kounodori. I even asked a friend who´s partner miscarried and can confirm the impressive medical details in the narrative. Jin´s medical and historical accuracy (a historically accurate portrait of prostitution ~Oh, my stars and garters) is also highly impressive and Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei was mentioned too.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

I can't believe food wasn't an option, it's the only thing I ever 'research'
