Do you tend to choose different genres when reading manga and anime? For example, I read I ton of romance manga, but I choose anime for action series

When it comes to manga I can tolerate fanservice alot more than watching its counterpart in Anime form. I treat reading manga as more experimental than watching Anime, since Anime seems like a much bigger time sink, I will only watch an Anime that I really enjoy.
As for manga, I try very different genres, Josei, Shoujo-ai, sometimes when I run out of things to watch a bit of Ecchi Harem. However I do enjoy Action and Comedy alot more in anime form. Anything serious or psychological with deep meaning, needs to be read for me so I can fully understand it.

I'm the same for both mediums. Though for longer series, I do prefer manga to anime in most cases. I just don't have the attention span for 100 plus episodes, but I can read 40 plus volumes of manga...

i do, but not always, most of the genres i choose always go hand in hand.

in most cases manga is the best since it tends to explain more and lets you know what the character is thinking but there are exceptions to that.

I think it's pretty much the same, but there are a lot of genres I watch in anime which I don't read in manga.

I personely like manga much more than anime, and i think that anime can only reproduce better than manga, in terms of action and some comedy, but usually i search for harem in manga.

Well, I usually read either fantasy stuff or BL. Since there's not a whole lot of BL anime, the anime I watch is usually of manga I like or stuff like Gurren Lagann, Terra e, Summer Wars, Tears to Tiara, etc.
To tell the truth I'm not so big on anime. The absolute most anime I can stand to watch in a row is four episodes and that's pushing it.

But I can marathon manga all day easily and I've done it quite a few times in the past. I guess I have a bigger attention span for manga because I can go at my own pace and stop and fool with the music I listen to while I read. 😀

I tend to stick to the same sort of genres, but I'll read a so-so manga a lot longer than I'll watch a so-so anime.

Quote from Raeryn

For manga, it's typically romance and adult oriented themes, but for anime I prefer action, supernatural, and horror.

Ya, it's the same for me. O_O

I prefer to read the slower pace stuff (Shoujo, Josei, some Seinen), but for anime I prefer to watch something with lots of action, some humor when needed, but over all fast paced. This, obviously falls under Shounen, but I am a lot more picky with anime than manga.

When a manga isn't so great at first I try to pull through it for a few chapters and if it still doesn't interest me I drop it or just leave it aside. It's different with anime; if a series doesn't appeal to me during the first two episodes--I drop it. I find it a bother to sit through something for 20 minutes that won't appeal to me in the long run.

i don't watch much anime, but when i do, i usually prefer mecha, but never read mecha mangas (action sequences are better animated than drawn)
